Monte Carlo mud flaps

Featured Replies

As requested, here's some picture of the Performance Creations mudflaps. The stickers are optional, so I decided not to fit them.  I also got the 4mm thick versions due to the rubbish grit used by Shetland Islands council (its more like razor sharp stone chips than sand and salt).

For fitting, I got them done whilst the garage was changing my 4 wheels for winter steels. But I did read the enclosed instructions and they were pretty easy to follow - no drilling or cutting - just attach some brackets using the existing wheel liner screws. Takes about 15 mins per corner.

I should add that they're quite low to the ground. Perhaps 3 or 4 inches (didn't measure because the weather was rubbish) so beware if you plan to go over rough tracks or big speed bumps. However they are flexible and well bend back.

I know some people won't like them but they look ok and the main thing is that the gloss black will be protected from "gravel rash".

Hope this helps answer some questions.

Thanks for the pictures and write up. Not sure if I will go for them but the more info the better.

On another note, what size winter tyres did you go for?

Yeah I thought the white sticker "Monte carlo" made it took a bit chav,  They're perhaps not my 1st choice either but after suffering lots of gravel rash on my old fabia vrs and needing a bumper fill, sand and respray, its the better of 2 evils.

I got cooper snow master 195/55 R15, purely because I had the old winter wheel from the mk1 fabia. Had to change the rubber from 185/55 to 195/55 though. £75 a corner is a good deal and they're excellent in the winter weather (snow, ice, slush etc).

Had the car 3 weeks and now the alloys will be off until April

I'm going to have to seriously consider them I think. The roads around the Highlands are pretty rotten....maybe not as bad as Shetland though.

I've got the same size ready to go on mine too. Nankang at £42 a corner and brand new rims from Skoda at £80 for the four....They are silver though so black trims on order.
