HID help urgent! cars in bits now.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Bit of an urgent one really.  Got a 4300k londoncolor hid kit non canbus.  Coded the other day for no cold lamp diagnostics and ticked xenons without shutters in vcds.

Fitted kit today switched on lights and nowt.  and the bulb warning light is on.  Swapped the red and black wires on the kit although i had already checked the car wiring to make sure i had the correct live and earth.  Still nothing.  Seeing as these are the only two wires to connect i am not sure what else it could be.

Any one else got round this issue.  I am losing day light fast and need to get it sorted.

07 vrs is the car in question.

I wait in hope!!

Thanks

Just thought, this isn't anything to do with my car having a newer can gateway from probably a later face lift model for the bolero?

Can you not put OE back in and start again another day? Not helping much I know bud but as a Techie I know how time can turn against you especially as it starts to get dark

sorted the lights but still got a bulb warning light.  Now one bulb is out but looks like it make have been fault and blown.  Will compare to the other hid bulb that i am about to take out and put everything back to standard for now.

Turns out where i was just testing the lights and not seating them properly that the connector blocks were not clicked properly into place although they were connected well enough for the side lights.

Will have to investigate this blown hid bulb.

All sorted.  Tested other bulb with other ballast.  Was ok so put everything back making sure all the connection were good.  All lights working and no warning light.

Why couldn't have things gone like this from the off.  I have had the lights in and out of that car around 70 times today.  At least its all done.  However i am most certainly going to carry a set of halogen bulbs just in case it all goes wrong at some point.  Least i can take it out and swap back to standard in probably less than 5 mins.

at least you got it sorted in the end.

My londoncolour HIDs should be with me tomorrow. Hope to hell im not going to have the same bother

The reliability seems good with these kits.

Had mine in about 8000 miles so far. Very pleased.

They can be quite sensitive to poor connections etc so always a good place to check.

Glad you got them sorted.

I have had a similar experience, again with LondonColour.  Mine even survived a minor prang, enough to break the h/l unit.

I must admit if it were not for the odd loose connection and me trying to rush and not properly connect the loom to the light units when testing rather than fully clickng the connector on, this would have been one easy upgrade.

So a message to all who will try this, ignore my panic it was mainly down to human error.  It really is simple.  Great care should be taken over getting the connections good but thats all.

Thanks everyone
