VAG COM VCD

Featured Replies

Hi

Im looking for a vcd to diagnose my octavia. Can some suggest where to buy. Looking for a cheap one if there is such a thing.

Check second hand on Ebay, thought you only pay for cable as software is freely downloaded from Rosstech, so not many second hand.

Got mine from Gendan, current price is 263.00

If you see a cheap brand new cable which claims to be CAN compatible it will be fake.

If you buy the cable from eBay...you still need to pay Ross tech for the software

Really there are no cheap alternatives

You need to pay for support not the software. Though you need to pay to register VCDS lite to be able to use all the functions and get support.

I meant that

Have a look in the VCDS forum and see if there is anyone near who has VCDS and could scan your car for a few beer tokens.

It depends what you want to do.  There are cheaper alternatives to VCDS.  For example I have successfully use Torque OBD app on my phone along with a bluetooth OBD dongle I got from ebay for about £15.  I've used it to diagnose several problems on mine and friends cars.

VCDS is good as it's VAG specific and allows you to programme stuff, but tdo you really need that level of functionality?
