Skoda Bulletin SK0415/10 regarding MDI cable

Featured Replies

I understand this bulletin covers the fact that dealers should include an MDI cable with cars that include MDI.

Does anyone have a copy of this bulletin, or can confirm what exactly what it says?

Thanks

dont know about a bulletin but i got a MDI cable with my new vRS last week without even asking for it

My Monte came with an iPod MDI cable in the top glovebox, got my old Nano connected up and hidden in the MDI pocket under the dash.

It should be there as standard as far as I'm aware, not sure why a bulletin was needed.

I know they are supposed to come with a cable, but I just wanted to know what the bulletin said before I say something incorrect to the dealer.

Sorry superdon, can't help you there as I didn't know anything about a bulletin being issued.

Can only presume that the dealer must ask the customer if they'd prefer an iPod specific cable or a USB cable for other types of MP3 players when they take delivery of the car as they come factory sealed in a packet.

Just ask them where is my MDI cable, I took the spec with me with that part highlighted in case I needed it however it wasn't necessary as it was already in the car and was the correct one for me as I wanted the iPod connector.

Ok. Long and short of it is, its been implied that I can only get the USB version of the cable if I pay for it. I don't want the ipod cable, just the USB one.

Hi superdon, the brochure states "MDI (Multi Device Interface) and cable for connecting MP3 players ** Where ** means Retailer supplied.

My dealer told me there was a choice of a few cables and he just needed to make sure he gave me the right one for my needs, hopefully this helps mate.

I think if you can't get those cables thrown in, its time to chuck your order.

That sort of stuff is an absolute given, much like full tanks of fuel, tax, carpet mats...

Don't know about the fuel, got mine (granted, it was second hand) and they said they only put £6 in all the cars, I said it's still more than I put in mine. My red light came on the say before I went to trade in so I went and got £4.30 in, oh well, prover to be a wise move.

But yeah, it's a simple cable, and it should be free because hell, you already paid extra for the MDI itself.

Right. Basically they say the iPhone cable now comes with the car from factory and is therefore obviously included.

However, if I want the USB version, I would have to pay for it and then I would have both a iPhone and a USB cable!

So....anyone have a USB cable and want to swap for a iPhone one?

Not sure the lack of a cable warrants cancellation of an order?

If an iPhone cable is now supplied from the factory then, technically, the brochure etc is correct. That said, it's always worth a "friendly chat" with the Dealer who may well throw in the cable you actually require for free, just like mine did.

It certainly doesn't warrant cancellation of the deal. They have been really good with the deal.

I will just accept what they are saying and hopefully someone might want to swap. If not I will just buy one off eBay.

A Full tank of fuel is never a given, or carpets unless standard with the car, or a spare wheel or the likes.

What is a given is everything that should be there as listed as Standard, or no cost option where there is that type of offer.

Check the Spec at the time of purchase or doing the deal & get what you are paying for, if that includes a cable or choice of cable then that is what you paid for,  and if not there the Vendor needs to get it for the buyer,

anything over and above is a bonus surely.

Yep, that's right. The brochure doesn't really say if there is a choice, it just says there is a cable. And, if they are coming from factory with them, I guess it's fair enough that they don't want to swap it without charge. If I was paying top whack on the deal, I might make more of a fuss, but I am not, so I won't :)

Nice when they make a gesture though.

& when it costs them nothing, they are being pretty daft not to 'make the customer happy'.

Enjoy the car.

Ours came with the apple lead from factory, which was no use to us, so politely asked the dealer if they would provide a usb one instead. Seemed quite happy to do this and it came in the post a couple of weeks after collection due to no stock at the time (they obviously kept the apple lead).
