confusion about clutches

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of going hybrid turbo thus will need a clutch, I'm Mechanically sympathetic but don't understand this smf and dmf.

I want something that is reasonable cheap will handle the power but won't be a pig drive and Wear out after 5 mins.

Whst do people recommend/suggest?

Cheers

SMF will deal with higher torque, DMF gives you a smoother drive and quieter idle, Not sure what the stock DMF is rated to torque-wise, but I had a spiky map on my old Fabia which broke a DMF with torque spikes up to around 380ftlb. Off a hybrid, I'd imagine you're likely to be around 330-350 (mine did about 335 after a new map I think). A DMF should be OK, a SMF will be pretty much bulletproof as there's no damping to go wrong.

My smf kit israted to400bls foot and mapped to 380,been on 2 yrs and lots of abuse and just as good as the day I fitted, smf all the way
