sat nav anf MFD not working suddenly...

Featured Replies

56 plate with built in sat nav and white maxidot display:

My radio no longer turns on when I start the car this isnt a big issue as it will power on manually its just a little annoying as it used to work. The MFD doesn't have the navigation option there any more. Surely the unit can't have lost the code for the sat nav over night...or can it?

If someone could advise me I'd he grateful - its driving me mad!

Thanks

Sounds like a can bus issue, getting the car scanned with vcds would be a start, I'm in Holmfirth if required, but thinking out aloud when you start the car it sends a message on the can bus to tell the sterio the ignition is on so it powers up. If this is not getting to the sterio it will not power up on ignition. Subsequently the sterio (MFD2 - Nexus or MFD3 - Columbus?) will send messages over the can bus which tell the mfd what to display. I would say either a faulty sterio or can bus wiring to the sterio will be the problem. Start with the simple and check the cabling on the multiply behind the sterio.

I've spent hours searching and finally came across a post from a member with the same issue. I scanned and messed about between searching with no avail.

The fault was rectified by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.typical IT fix.

How bizarre! Thank you for the above post.
