Elegance and Sport - Suspension

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

We went to the dealders yesterday with my Wife and waiting for the PCP quotes. She really likes the CitiGo Sport but as she currently has VW Polo on coilovers and the ride is pretty hard on these she's worried about CitiGo sport suspenson. I have told her not to worry and the ride will be 100 times better and nicer in the CitiGo Sport. Is there any difference in the ride between Elegance and Sport suspensions...? Any of you guys tested both...We are going to arrange the test drive as soon as we decide that we want to order the car but I wanted to know what your opinions are.

Thanks, Matty

  • Well…You have shocked me there fella...   I think the ride is absolutely brilliant, especially given the size of the car   They got it spot on IMO

  • I think white looks great with the tinted windows and alloys! (I would) That being said it looks great in all three colors! :-)

  • Order the 16's fella If you don't like the ride, I suppose I'd swap my 15's with you... Just call it goodwill at Christmas, or whatever Honestly... the things I'll do to help people out :p

The ride is excellent in the Sport

It handles the pot holed streets of Sheffield better than most large cars ive owned

Ive had a fair few cars on lowered suspension, and coilies so I know how harsh ride quality can be with them, but the Citigo is nothing like that whatsoever.

I can assure you she will be happy

Cheers

I bloody hope so cos I really want her to go with the Sport version...She's cosidering White or Red option but as soon as she read "sport suspension" she asked me...Does that mean the car is going to be the same as my Polo...? I denied straight away and told her to not even think that way.

Can't wait for the PCP quote and then off the the dealers and order one....!!!!!!!!!! She thinks the Car is too big and wants something smaller like SMART. I told her it's not practicualar and uselles. She then checked all sites with car reviews and guess what...Skoda CitiGo has the best overal score for the city car...!

Sport suspension just means its lowered 15mm

The ride is not compromised whatsoever, and soaks up bumps like cars twice its size

It will be a country mile ahead of the Polo comfort wise

As for something smaller, I wouldnt recommend anything smaller than a Citigo tbh

Its only 800 and odd kilos, but still feels like a bigger car, and the boot is deceptively deep. With the seats down you'd be amazed how much it can carry.

I think she'll love the test drive tbh

And like you said, the reviews dont lie, they're great cars :)

Best of luck and let us know how you get on

Damo

When test driving the Citigo, I deliberately went down a badly potholed road that I knew of near the dealership and was mightily impressed. The ride over the bumps was incredible for such a small car. It was one of the things that sold it to me.

Hi Slotty.  I ordered a white sport 5 door on the 22 September.  Should be built at the end of this month with delivery maybe before xmas, we shall see on that point.

I test drive both, and as damo has said, I though the ride was great, no issues at all and I didn't want a too hard ride.  I didn't want it too soft either so cornering was going to be an issue but I think it is bang on if I am honest.  I also test drive an Elegance Greentech with the lower suspension, also a great car.  I have to say that maybe the Sport is slightly harder, maybe my imagination, it is very close to tell the difference.  I think the suspension feels the same, the difference is just the wheels, 5j x 14" 176/65 R14 on the Elegance against a 5.5j x 15" 185/55 R15.  Heavier wheel and tyre combination, wider and lower profile tyre giving the feeling that it feels slightly harder.  I think it is marginal.  You will need to try both, at the end of the day both are great cars.

I went Sport because SWMBO preferred Sport although would have been very happy with an Elegance, or any Citigo come to that.

Thanks for all your replies guys. It looks and sounds like she will go with the Sport version...!!! :)

I agree with the Sport suspension. I love the ride and the way it handles. It's not hard at all. :)

Forgive my ignorance, but what's PCP?

PCP = Interest Free (Finance, Persnoal Contract Purchase me thinks)

Ah! Thanks.

My dealer worked out the finance for me there and then after the test drive.

^ That's what I want...White with 16" serpen alloy wheels...Will the ride on 16" still be comfy and nice...? I hope so....

Appointment booked for next satruday to order one...!!!

Get the white one if you like cleaning it every couple of days. I just cleaned the wife's white citigo and she went out shopping. I went to help bring in the shopping and the back of the car was almost black...!

I'm actually seeing him there and he's sorting this out for us...:) I'll pass the message...

I'd definitely recommend the white with Serpens alloys :)

And feel even more smug because vw charge about £400 extra for white cars now . Thankfully skoda don't, yet!

at the end of the day it's her choice... :wall:

Let's hope she will go with white...I have the orange Fabia and hate all stone chip marks which look white hence why i want her to get the white one.
