Seat / Door Trim Cleaning (vrs)

Featured Replies

Anybody got any tips for keeping the silver inserts on the doors and seats clean -- just noticed today that the drivers door area around grab handle is starting to get a bit grimy.

Not sure what to use as don't want to **** it up !

Try baby wipes :D

No, I'm serious. They seem to have the right mix of solvents/cleaners to remove the sort of gunge that accumulates on handles, etc. without being too harsh.

I have the same problem with my doors - guess it's my lazy driving style!

Baby wipes? Worth a try!

Anyone willing to lend me a baby so I can go safely out and buy the wipes? ;)

Wuss :D

A note of caution on the use of baby wipes (!).

These contain alcohol which, although it does a great job with regard to keeping the seats clean, it will dry the leather out through time and could lead to cracks/rips etc.

Just a suggestion but I use a damp J-cloth for the seats which seems to do the trick and 1001 carpet/upholstery cleaner for the inserts.

Cheers

Hugh

I originally treated all white/silver/grey inserts with Simonez Teflon Upholstert Protector and if a bit needs cleaning I use baby wipes.

 on the Teflon stuff.

Groom - the business

That's the stuff!! (also posted about it on another thread) I use the dash cleaner and my can is still going strong after a number of years - you don't need much to get the dash, gear lever etc. clean. IIRC I got it in Halfords. Not tried the upholstery stuff, tho.

Cheers,
