Rolling Road on Skoda Octavia VRS today...!

Featured Replies

Went to South West Car In Tech today for a dyno test. I was expecting to be somewhere near 200bhp, but end result's showed 192 BHP :(  A bit gutted to be honest, time for a new remap from APR or South West Car In Tech, as they can custom map to 212 BHP, for £280 inc VAT. APR want £369 + VAT :o

Enjoy the video... :D

What video mate? It's not worked? What remap was it? APR?

Should be working now, I don't know who did the remap.

Call my a cynic but you used their rolling road to test the car - found it was under-power and now they are offering a remap?

Firstly i would try and find out what the @ wheels value should be as there is always a good bit of guesswork by the road to work out the @ fly number. You also have to remember that there are other factors that can affect it - How much cooling was used, what the ambient temps were.

Rolling Road tests like these are IMO mainly good for testing out improvements from chips etc. What the start number it self is, is much less important. Its the start and end numbers as they are much more consistent in a similar environment.

I was told by trader the car was remapped, and dpf off but they never had any paperwork to show the exact figures. They were close to where I live, so did the dyno test. The guys were quite impressed with the results, I wasn't. They weren't offering to get it remapped, in fact I asked them for a remap.

Come to think of it, I'm going to leave it as it is, as I don't want to cause any stress on the turbo. Front tyres are budget tyres, so could be a drop in BHP.

Will fit branded tyres after xmas, then possibly go on a rolling again.

Overall I'm happy with the results, as the car shifts!

So are you gutted or happy overall?

Be careful with an APR map, they're really nice maps but mine through a wobbler with what is alleged to be a corrupt file from APR - they've not contradicted me either. In fact they've gone silent.

Should've been more clearer, I'm happy :)

Will fit panel or induction kit, better tyres (don't know which ones), then EBC green stuff pads. I'd better stay away from APR for future car/s. Revo don't do maps for 2.0 tdi Skoda pd unit, don't know why?

Is your car currently on APR map, or done by someone else?

My car is now mapped by R Tech in Hinckley. My car stopped working COMPLETELY while it was still running APR software.

I heard of R tech before, heard positive and good results. Just spotted yours a petrol, won't be able to get that much power from my TDI lol.

APR is a well known company, it's a shame how APR messed up your Skoda VRS.

Do you have any pics of your VRS? It looks like you've lowered it and fitted aftermarket wheels?

There's a whole thread on the car in Octavia project journals.

I wouldn't say APR messed up my car, but I have been shown no evidence to the contrary (including by APR) that the map was not the direct cause of the issue with the car.

I may go for the Driver Motorsport package soon, they have a k04+ file which utilizes the Audi S3 3.1 bar map sensor. Very exciting results coming from the US.
