AP Shock and Spring Kit

Featured Replies

I was browsing on DPM's website yesterday and saw the AP shock and spring kit for £233.

These almost seem too good to be true.

2 year warranty, made by AP so should be decent quality and from what I've seen the drop seems just about right. They're also listed specifically for the vRS so the spring rates should be right.

Does anybody run them? Are they bouncy?

Got the AP lowering kit on my 1.9TDi, very good for the money IMO, not harsh but not wallowy either. Turning into bends was improved as was braking in my case.

How long have you had them for? Any strange noises or any problems?

Any strange noises?

Only from the driver :p

I have them on my Fabia and they are quite good, not at all harsh and perfect for every day driving as well as long motorway runs.

I'm getting a slight knock from the front passenger side but i don't think it's anything to do with the suspension, i think it's an engine mount, need to get it looked at.

Here's a few pictures:

Thanks for the free tip, I'm getting a knock like that also - may need to check my mounts too !

Although I've got to open up a spark plug socket a bit first so I can make sure I can check my spring top mount is really tight, but that has got me thinking so thanks.

Harry,

what kit is that? what the lowering? I mean what do the kit state?

There was a bit of play in one of my top mounts too, only one side

That knock was a lot worse then the current one, something was left loose which the garage sorted out for me on the same day

any one been on track with these?? i was thinking of coilovers but i drive 30mls so these would be prefect if the ride isn't bumpy

whats the height like when it comes to speed bumps? can you drive over them like a normal car or do you have to hold everyone up behind you?

had they been on long when you took the pics harry1212, have they settled any lower?

You can go over normal speed bumps at abut 10mph without even a scrape if you're in a hurry, and i have a splitter as well

I usually slow right down for supermarket ones because they are a bit harsh, but not because i'm lowered, just because i don't want to break anything

They have settled now, didn't really go any higher or lower to be honest, both of those pics were taken over a month after i got them fitted

There are a few people on here who have been on track with just 30mm springs (with standard shocks) so i'm guessing these shouldn't be an issue

ah right, cheers. ive got speed ramps everywhere round my way and it was a nightmare with my van on coilovers. just want a sensible drop which is comfortable for everyday driving and no need to have to crawl over every speed bumps and pulling up slopes/driveways etc

Is anything else needed to fit these? new top mounts etc?? or is it a complete kit that can be swapped over

Nothing apart from 2 normal drop links (not shorter ones or anything like that)

There is also 30mm drop ones for the same price, reckon you'd notice the difference?  Was looking at coilies but actually quite tempted by these!!

Think thats for a normal fabia. Isn't the vrs already a bit lower than a standard car? i'd also think the spring rate is different (just thinking out loud)

Yep just me not reading it properly!

any one with other comments or pics for theses?

Yup, check my build thread in my signature, the picture on the last page is with them fitted.

They're great. Comfy and good handling. I couldn't recommend them more.
