Can't clear DTC's now

Featured Replies

Yesterday I had a need to change a setting on my car, so whipped out the laptop, hooked her up to my Superb with my Ross-Tech cable and the first thing the app done was to upgrade to 12.12.0.

So far so good, I made my changes, then went to clear theh fault codes I have (these are all minor).  I have cleared them before BTW, but the SW is telling me I need to upgrade to the PRO version to clear DTC's  "or something like that"?

Anyone every had this, I'm not that happy about it?

Email Ross tech?

Where did you get the cable from?

Are you sure its a genuine cable? things like this usually happen with ebay purchased counterfeit ones.

The pro license is contained in a chip within the connector that attaches to the car, if this is valid then if genuine it should work fine. Counterfeit cables cannot be upgraded from the version they come with (or sometimes even be used whilst connected to the web) as Ross-Tech block these dodgy licenses.

If the cable is genuine try a complete uninstall including the cable drivers (all versions) and install afresh using the 12.12 version downloaded from ross-tech.

It is a genuine Ross-Tech cable, supplied to me "directly" from them.

It's been OK up until this 12.12 update

Have you connected to the internet since the cable has been plugged in to the car?

Might just need activating again.

Try firing VCDS up again whilst you have an internet connection. Did you go through the test settings with the cable connected to the car?

Why is directly in inverted commas?  Confused by that.  Are you saying you got VCDS through one of the Ross Tech authorised resllers like Ilexa / Gendan? :)

My cable was from Ross-Tech, not from  a reseller or 2nd hand, that's what I meant.  I have emailled them and had a very quick reply from a Mr Ross,  Great service and I'll try again tommorrow hopefully.

Mine does the same. "Clear all DTCs" says it requires the Pro version (I have Micro-CAN from Gendan). However, the DTCs will clear, just one at a time. Am happy with this as I read the DTCs before clearing. ;)

Thats essentially what Ross Tech told me, to clear the DTC's from the individual modules.

Yes, on a MicroCAN interface, you cannot clear all DTCs.  You must go to each module and clear the DTCs in that module.  If you have the HEX style interface, the clear all DTCs will work.  As far as I know, it has always been this way on the MicroCAN.
