Remap questions

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of remapping my tsi but got a few questions.

Most importantly what increase am i looking at? I don't wan't to do any other mods before so it will just be a basic remap.

How much does it usually cost? I would want a print out so i know the exact power the car had before and after.

When the car goes for it's service and they update the ECU, could the map be wiped over?

Has anyone not told their insurance? If i was unfortunate to be in an accident how would they even know?

Edit: Forgot to say. my car is on 10k miles. Is it better to wait until the cars has done more so the engine has run in so i get the most out of the engine?

Hi, I have a stage 1 remap from shark, this takes the std 200bhp up to approx 250bhp and you notice it. This was done after a year of having the car and it having its 1st service. this cost about £400 at the time (3 years ago) with the still freedom 10% discount offer. At the time this was with a free STS unit, I didnt visit shark to get the map as it was emailed to us.

I used the STS to remove the map when it went in for a service and reinstalled afterwards just incase it was written over in anyway.

I have always reported the map and other mods to my insurance, it cost at the time about £100 a year more.

I recommend you go to the tuning section to see all that are available

I am running an AMD map they do a lot of vw & Audis not so many skodas for some reason. They did before and after RR runs with map and itg panel filter. After map 264bhp was recorded with 95ron fuel.

I have done about 60k on the map dealer serviced for two years... No one ever wiped the map.

If your car is mapped it is easy for someone who knows what they are doing

My dealer knew mine was mapped I never told them.

definately don't risk not telling insurers Go compare for example now have an option for mapped cars. I hav found Adrian Flux cheapest last two years but was with Admiral before.
