The Fastest Car IN THE WORLD!

Featured Replies

I think its just hard sitting in a new VAG / Audi / BMW / mercedes to then sit in another make.

I can honestly say i would never buy any other type of car unless they came on leaps and bounds

I just tried to order a top of the range VW Amarok.

(On Lease, thats not actually buying, that is Borrowing at a price.)

But due to the somehow difficulty of VW actually supplying a product, & the most expensive in the range then requiring Extra Options to be suitable to do the job,  i ordered an Isuzu.

TOTR,

VW Amarok 2.0 2.0 BiTDI Auto £32,100,  and then all the rest you might need to add.

Nissan Navara 3.0 V6 TD Auto £31,000 , with the kit you might need,

Isuzu 2.5 TD D-Max Utah Vision Auto, proper tow capacity, £28,300, sensible extras at sensible prices.

But i know people then say quality comes at a price. Not really buy a 2/3 year old premium brand with low miles. Probably cheaper than a new citroen / peugeot and you then save money on residuals. Theres no massive 50% depreciation to look forward to after 3 years

Its in the same league as a fiesta / corsa imo

The Fabia had more rattles than Mothercare, drank fuel and had a new engine.

Please...before you cast aspersions on the DS3...go and drive one

Its a quality car, whisper quiet, has all the toys as standard, needs fewer fill ups and is better built, with a retro feel that the Fabia didn't have

I still own my Octavia.....that has better quality materials than the MkIII

BUt you appear to own a Leon with a horrendous slab of cheap shiny plastic as a centre console, so I'm not sure your opinion on interior design is to be trusted.

Shhhh, you aren't allowed to say that kind of thing on here.

Some people won't entertain the thought that anything other than a skoda is worth buying.

I own a bmw

It was a mk1 leon btw. Wasn't too bad actually. The mk2 leon interior is aweful id agree

My mistake. I thought it was a 2 from the details in your profile.

Big Jase,

did the Leon get moved on after the Drive Shaft escapade?

What BMW did you go for to replace it,

is it a 2/3 year old with Low mileage by any chance ?

george

Please note Dr Zoidberg owns a Fiat...enough said...

A Fiat that is superior to your SDI in every respect, yep.

Yes it did

Leon was getting a little long in the tooth

Was on 113k miles and was needing regular maintenance

I bought a 2007 e90 320d one owner car. On 72k miles for 8k

As long as you got a good one,

You paid about £2000 over what they normally go for,

always good in reducing someone elses depreciation by paying over the odds on a 6 year old car.

I bought it from a dealer

And if you think you can buy a decent one for 6k you sir are smoking drugs (yes you may be able to get one private for 6k but how clean is it going to be)

Mine is immaculate, got a total of about 2 stone chips

Edited by BigJase88

The Dealer probably  bought it for around £6200, he might have bought it Private, possibly took it as a Trade In or bought at Auction.

Plenty clean cars out there.

They really are not difficult to find Private for sale at what the Trade In is being offered at,

& people are happy to accept to go buy their next one with Cash/Money.

Blow is not required to buy cars at their worth, a clear head helps.

george

Leon was financed with same dealer and i owed what it was worth

Meant finding a private buyer who wanted to buy a financed car (few and far between)

So i just traded it. The dealer was selling the car on behalf of his uncle so he didnt make much if anything on it

It just goes to show that Premium Brand German cars are not that good on depreciation really.

Around £25,000 new, and after 6 years dropped to worth around £6500-£7000 in a Trade in when a one owner & average mileage.

Keep it nice &  pay for a FDSH in the first 3 years or longer.

so a £18,000 drop.

Maybe that was £12,000 depreciation when it had reached its first MOT at 3 years old.

But a £3000 a year over 6 years is not bad for driving a nice car.

george

How much is it going to drop now though. Very little!

But you lose money on every car, unless you buy a classic

Every car does cost you to drive that is true.

Run abouts and cr4p non Germans might be £1000 or so per year over 10 years,

Bigger Family cars £2,000,

then drive a nice Premium Car, £3-4 Grand if you keep it for less than 8 years.

You work out how much your 6-7 year old car will cost you for the next 4 years say to 2018,

by the time it is 10 years old what it will be worth.

If it is a keeper, maybe not too much

I would imagine it is going to cost rather more per year than going and leasing a new Citroen or Peugeot, for 3-4 years.

(Even HP on a Asian Vehicle with a 7 year Warranty.)

No or low VED, service package, no MOT's on the lease car and possibly better fuel economy.

Buy then that would be a French car,  and not as reliable as 6 year old plus BMW.

george

Id rather pay the extra tbh

DS3s are great, nothing has fallen off our one in 33,000 miles, Citroen build quality is much better than it was :)

I drove it for 14 Months before deciding it was a bit small to get the mountain bike in, so Mrs FW has now taken ownership. She still thinks she has the better car, so we're both happy.

Been used for some Lotus runs when then Lotus has been out of commission, handles well enough not to slow them down round the twistys

Residuals and depreciation on the main French makes are hurendous and that is a fact!

No matter how good the DS3 is,it is a citreon and the value will drop faster than a lady of the nights knickers :).

Not true of the DS3

Depreciation is far better than other models
