I've got a couple of annoying niggles with my octavia, they have been they since I got it but I think its about time I get them sorted.

 

Firstly,

 

The wipers have a mind of there own when it comes to stopping, sometime they will stop in the correct place but most of the time its either half way up or at the top.

I'm not sure if its something to do with the replay as sometimes I hear a click from the relay area when the wipers are in use but other times there no noise.

 

Anyone have any info on this?

 

Secondly,

 

The drivers front electric window doesnt work, when I press the button there is a click but nothing happens, its as if the motor is trying to work but isnt.

 

Any info on this too?

Chances are your wiper linkages are begining to seize up.

Do you get a grinding noise from the window motor if you do then chances are the cables on the regulator are buggered. On here there is a really helpfull guide to replacing it. Quite easy done mine in under an hour

With the window, you really need to get the door card off and actually have a look to see what is going on with the motor/regulator so that we can offer you better guidance. With the wipers, I would check the linkage is lubricated, and also that the earth point to the motor is in good condition. You would also be wise to check the wiring in the boot by the cd changer for water ingress from the rear washer as this seems to affect the front wipers as well.

OK mate will have a look, where abouts in the boot is the cd changer normally located as mine doesn't have one?

In the recess in the boot near the left rear lamp area. Pull back the felt liner where you would reach the bulbholder from and follow the wiring back to the corner where the rear panel meets the rear wing and you will see a large amount of wiring which also has the rear wash jet tube amongst it.
