Performance difference 1.6 105 hp vs 2.0 110 hp

Featured Replies

I have the 1.6 tdi 105 hp engine in the Roomster and was wondering what performance difference there is, if any, over the 2.0 110 hp Yeti one?

Only driven the 1.6TDI in the Fabia and Octy II and both of those felt similar to my 110 4x4 in terms of on the road performance, although maybe with not quite as much get up and go. Also the 2.0 TDI is a quieter and smoother engine and feels a little more flexible IMHO.

Having not looked at the specs, i can only assume the 2.0 provides more torque?

Torque is king, forget bhp ;)

Both adequate I suppose. Skodas own Acceleration figures are about the same.

The 1.6 tdi will be a Greenline,so will have low rolling resistance tyres ,stop start and 25mm lower suspension with 16" wheels.

You'll probably do about 3  MPG better.

AS TP says,my Greenline is slightly noisier than my previous 2.0 TDI.

Are they both in the same Insurance group?

The biggest difference might be in cost to buy.

I had a Roomster 1.6 TDI before my previous Yeti which was a 1.2 TSI - there was a significant difference in torque etc.

Since changing, in October, to having a 2.0 TDI Yeti I cannot really discern any major difference to the Roomster in torque, pick up etc. - possibly it's an old man's memory is playing up.

The mpg being achieved with the 2.0 DI is similar to that of the Roomster although one's driving style is different - with the Yeti you have an elevated view and can drive in more 'defensive' manner pre-empting sudden braking and needless loss of energy.

I have the 2.0 CR110. Chosen over the 1.6 Green line as I felt a "detuned" 170 would have greater longevity than the 105 1.6.

Happy with it apart from a lack of pull 50-70 Mph in 4th or 5th. Dealer's master technician said it's as it should be. Service manage says 1500rpm is too low and I should change down to 3rd. Strange, as max torque means it should be pulling like a tractor at this point

Errr..... The 110 is a detuned 140. The 170 has different bits, which means it can remap to around 210bhp, whereas the 110/140 can get to around 170 ish.

The 110 has smaller brakes as well.
