I have a problem reoccurring for a little while now, and can't seem to get to the bottom of it. The garage seems stumped as well, no diagnostics errors coming back.

When I initially accelerate my 1.9TDI Octavia (either from standing or after each gear change) the car shudders and will not accelerate for a few seconds, then will give a good cough and belch of smoke out the back, and starts accelerating as one would expect. If I push the accelerator down harder, it just increases the problem - slow and steady seems the safest way to drive it. It also happens if I am driving slow and decide to accelerate sharply.

Anyone else found this problem? Have changed out the fuel and air filters at a full service, no change. Can't seem to find issue explained like this elsewhere either.

EGR and turbo probably a bit clogged but functional. Get a user with VCDS to do a log over various gear changes logging actual vs specified boost and same with EGR.

 

You should see the boost jump at the same time you get the acceleration.

 

 

The dealer has a software update for the later 1.9tdi stuttering problem. If they say they don't they are lying because I had mine done at my dealer with no problems.
