Quick question, got my mate to get me a service kit for my car as he gets discount. He got Granville fs5w30 will it be ok to use ?

It depends on if it meets the correct VW (VAG) specs.  As mentioned in plenty of oil threads. You must use oil that meets or exceeds VW 505.01. If 5W-30 then 504 & 507.
