Hi From Darren

Featured Replies

HI Darren From Trowbridge.

I am in the process of buying a Skoda Octavia Scout. The brake pedal seems strange when pressed hard/fast. It goes half way to floor as expected and then goes soft and right down to to floor. The car stops OK.

Is this the sort of thing to expect from Mechanical Brake assist?  My 10 year old zafira does not have this so it is all new to me.

Thanks for any help.

Darren

Welcome.

welcome, sounds strange with the brakes? does it brake quickly and effectively?

may be because you've been used to driving an older car, may feel different.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Hello Darren  :hi:

I'd want that checked if it were me.  A brake pedal all the way to the floor doesn't sound right - coz once it's on the floor, your braking presumably isn't increasing.

Hi Darren, it sounds to me like it has some air in the braking system, so it may need the brakes bleeding or a part replacing?

How old is the car and is there a service book stamped with it, i belive they (skoda) recomend having the brake fluid changed every 2 years.

I would want it checking out and confirmed that it's working correctly before i bought it tho mate.
