Fuse 4 battery / lights dimming .

Featured Replies

Hi all .I have a fabia estate 1.9TDi , had for 6 years now .I am after help with a few issues and wondered if you can help. Had problems last xmas with starting and when left running wound cut out  so changed a faulty battery and alternator .Then I realized fuse 4 on the battery had blown and wondered what this is for as still having problems .The dashboard lights will dim when driving along .

On early TDIs, that fuse is for the glowplugs. If you specify the engine code (options label under boot carpet and in service log book) and year I can tell you for sure.

On later TDIs it's the ABS. On others, it's non used.

Gets weirder -according to manual of untruths, F4 on MK1is for the interior/glovebox and luggage compartment.

Don`t know about rest but it is 2002 year .It could be the abs fuse because when it was cutting out after leaving it running to clear ice and went to move off this failed first before it cut out.

In the main fuse box - Yes, but OP is talking about fuse 4 on the battery.

On a 2002 TDI (ATD engine), it's a 40A fuse for the glowplugs. That would explain it being hard to start in cold weather.

Welcome.
