Blower speed warning lights

Featured Replies

When I turn the blower speed control to 3 then the appropriate number of warning lights are not displayed. When I have it at any other speed then the appropriate number of warning lights are displayed. According to the owners manual "The set blower speed is displayed in the control dial B when the respective number of warning lights come on." I think it may be a dodgy controller. Anyone else had this issue?

Are you in manual mode? If so, that doesn't seem correct.

In Auto mode, it doesn't display the blower speed at all, unless you enable it using VCDS

Do it again and watch it, if you select the same same blower speed as it wants to run in auto then it switches back to auto and the lights to out, you only get the lights either side of the auto speed.

I have only used manual mode. I will give it a go in auto mode to see if this makes a difference.

Its meant to be used in Auto mode, thats the whole point of climate control.

Mine is exactly the same, was going to post exactly this!

I cant remember exactly how I've got it configured and the car is now locked in garage but given what's been said I will check on my way to work in the morning.

It's totally normal.

My car is yet to arrive, so I cant check, but...

what your saying then, if in AUTO mode, the fan would be on speed 2, and you decide to manually adjust the fan speed, the display would say 'your in speed 1, or, your in speed 3, speed 4' etc, but because it thinks you 'should' ideally be in speed 2, there is no display for that speed?

If that is the case, what happens if you, for example, open a window, and the car cools down and it thinks the fan should be on speed 3 now, does the display suddenly light up to say your in speed 2 and disappear if you change to speed 3? OR is it if you select the "ideal" fan speed, that would have been selected by AUTO mode, the display disappears because its set the fan speed back to the AUTO setting (whilst leaving blower position etc in manual)?

Either way it seems daft, if you want it in manual, it should go into manual, stay in manual and show you what settings you have selected, until you press AUTO.

In any case, I'm personally an AUTO person anyway...set the temp, and leave the car to do its thing.

(appologies for my post-night shift ramblings. Hopefully it makes sense :-D

I think it is because if it is in AUTO and you manually adjust the fan speed to put it in manual mode, if you then adjust the fan speed back to where it was when in auto it switches back to auto mode so the lights then go out.

Spot on.

I can confirm that I tried this and it is bang on. Switching back and fore from Auto to Manual adjusts the fan speed. Thanks for all your replies.
