Shell engine oil

Featured Replies

I am going to brave the cold weather this weekend and service my car. Did I read somewhere that skoda recommend she'll engine oil? Is it any good? Seems very pricey on a few websites I've looked at.

What would you recommend?

Yes it is a diesel. Forgot to mention that part....

I assume you also have a DPF, in which case you must use 507.00 spec oil.

So the stuff in the link above is perfect.

Funnily, so does my 2006 L&K.

I can only assume Skoda signed some sort of deal with Shell to promote their oils for consumer use, as I'm not sure that is what is actually in the engine from the factory. The Quantum oil seems to be the only kind of oil that TPS sell (VAG's own parts company).

I think that's where I seen it then. Maybe have been on my slam panel and sub consciously remembered it.

Subliminal marketing at its best!

Ring TPS and ask how much for 507.00 oil then tell them Euro Car Parts have a sale on at the moment and see if you can get a nice discount.

My 2010 Scout TSI has Castrol on the oil cap, thought the dealer always uses Shell Helix.

My 1.8 TSI also has the shell helix sticker, although the car runs on Mobil 1 Es, or EP something or other, i dont care really as long as it's 507.00, pretty good price from Opie oils too.

I buy oil from all sorts as long as it has the right codes. I think it's on Mobil right now.

I added half a litter of Q8 last week, 504.00/507.00. First time I seen Q8 at the local petrol station.

My car has a Shell sticker in it to, but as above the main dealer I've taken it to in the past has always used their own Quantum oil. Not sure who makes this mind, it isn't Shell I assume?

I believe Castrol makes the quantium oil.

As long as you use the correct spec oil you will be fine. Castrol definitely developed their 505/507 oils with VAG
