Best time to buy from a dealer

Featured Replies

Hi all,

This question has probably been asked a million times...but when is the best time to buy a used Skoda from a dealership? Im assuming there is a particular time when the manufacturer is trying to get rid of old stock and the newer model is coming in.....

Normally a week before month end if a used car. As targets can be on used as well as new. If a new car, if you don't mind what's in stock as opposed to a factory order. Also all depends on how big the dealer is, as they might have group targets to meet as well.

and probably after xmas will be a good time too...as people will have less to spend!!!

& Car Dealers and every other Retailer have had many years to know what Buyers think and when they think they can get a Bargain.

With Vehicles in the UK, 2 Registration Changes a Year, 12 end of months,  4 end of Quarters, 1 End of Tax Year.

With a vehicle a Run Out time before the new model etc.

1 month after Christmas,  1 Month after the new year, when household bills are coming in,just before Spring, Just before Christmas etc

Most end up Buying or Changing when they need to or want to,  Cash is still King, even if Finance might look good and get you deals.

Do the Deal where and when you want to for the best deal you can,

If you know how the Car & Dealership Trade works, Finance, Sales & making deals,

& you can beat or better them, become a Car Broker and make a Fortune.

And it is an advantage i suppose that I am paying cash!!!

Don't be fooled, the days of "Cash is king" are over. This is something I observed as a private buyer go in to a sales office and tell them you'll be paying straight cash and they'll help you with your purchase, Tell them you'd like to purchase a car on finance and watch them bend over backwards for you

And while people let that happen it will continue to,

there are actually people that will sell you products they get for more than they get them for and take payment in real instant money from the purchaser.

Many do want the Commission the payment and interest and tie the customer in.

You avoid them, give someone a fair profit if they want it, just a fair profit,

if not & finance is what they like dealing with there are still People that like Cash Money..

Indeed.

Only discussing this today with one of my cussies.

they actually hate it and shudder when they get a cash purchaser.

Cash = nil finance commision

Also with finance you can sometimes still come out on top, as manufactures may sometime give a fiance contribution and free services. Also you don't need to pay months on end and can settle after a few months without losing your benifits.

Yup they like finance commission

I would also go along with the between Christmas and New Year theory, they can't shift many cars in that period.

But there targets will be lower.

Got my car between Christmas and New year 2 years ago.....got a great bargain.
