1.6TDI 105 MPG

Featured Replies

So while they can't make a car that goes in a straight line, they do appear to be able to build a car capable of decent mpg.

Mine's starting to loosen up and I've this morning managed a very healthy 66mpg on a 50 mile run at 70mph to work (was getting mostly between 50 and 57mpg before).

I've read plenty of threads about people bemoaning this engine's inability to get the published 78mpg Extra-Urban figure (cough, splutter, yeah, right) - but what about what it actually *can* do?

Is there anyone out there who regularly manages to get more than 65mpg? Or is what I got this morning representative of the best I'm likely to see (which would be fine - I was banking on 60mpg being the best I'd manage, so anything above that would be a bonus).

I have managed to get 63mpg while pottering about town doing deliveries. That said it is late at night going back and forth on A roads. Regularly averaging 55mpg though. Mines 10k on the clock.

A good little engine it is :)

Ignore the computer until you can back-up what it is saying with a manual calculation.

Next time you fill up reset the trip meter. When you fill up again ask for a full receipt (showing number of litres used) and note the trip mileage.

Then enter it all here:

Until then take 66mpg with a large pinch of salt would be my advice!

at just 2,500 miles it will loosen up more ;)

Managed 71mpg last night on the way home over 60 miles...

Would have been better if it wasn't for the traffic. Weird that fuel consumption has changed noticeably over the last week or so.

I thought the thread was going to be about getting 105 mpg when I first read the title :)

Just got myself a monte 1.6 105 today. 233mile journey home, 50 miles of a roads and rest motorway, it said I averaged 61.8mpg.

My old boy drove my mk1 Fabia vrs back, and it said 60.1mpg average for 480 miles
