Telegraph review - Golf GTi for the Saga set

Featured Replies

Listen to you all throwing your toys out the pram. It's hilarious. :giggle:

No doubt gt40 reads a review in a camera/fishing/hifi/car magazine and thinks "that's the one I'm buying, fishing monthly says it's the best rod".

The only magazine I know that prints objective data about its reviews (actually, they're more like tests) is a German cycling magazine called tour-qtr, the rest of them - guff (including newspapers) :)

You don't know what I do and your sweeping generalisations suggest you have little basis upon which to comment about much.

I'm pretty relaxed, it's Sunday morning.

Haven't changed my opinion of you though.

Ah, shucks.

Love the first word of the article,  'driven'. Yeah whatever, if you say so.  You drive a car and all that you can do is just regurgitate the standard piffle.  Maybe he did see the car but I bet he couldn't be a#@ed to drive it before putting pen to paper. Or chalk to slate.

"Flared arches?" really? Investigative journalism is clearly alive and well in the Telegraph... and I thought Watchdog had been dumbed down.

Regurgitate standard piffle? Ever thought that could be because the standard piffle isnt actually piffle? Perhaps its actually true. If something were true, id expect most reviews to mention it. Would you prefer it if he wrote a load of rubbish about the Octy? Perhaps if he said it looked like a Jazz, burnt more fuel than a Rolls Royce, and was slower than a Smart car. Its rubbish, but at least it isnt standard piffle, so it should be OK.

Oh and yes, in a sense, flared arches. I also have no wish to find out what name they are called today. They stick out, and have a flared nature about them.
