Tow bar on a 1.9TDi hatch

Featured Replies

Hi

Has anyone fitted a tow bar to an Octavia before?

If so, where would you recommend getting one from?

My Dad's after one for his '02 Octavia derv and so far we've found the witter ones, which are about

There is a proper loom you can get that plugs into both rear light units, leaving a central tail to be connected to the trailer socket pins. You will also need an uprated flasher relay, which is all contained in a replacement hazard light unit (but it must be the uprated one). Your friendly dealer should be able to get you these parts very easily, and they shouldnt cost too much either (mine didnt anyway a few years ago).

i got skoda to fit mine. with everything it cost me a tad over

Just sort of related to this, there's a towbar on my newly aquired Mark 1 Octavia Elegance Estate TDi I've just bought. I haven't got anything to tow so I was going to ask my friendly local garage to take it off. From what you guys have said above, that might not be such a good idea, if it might cost

they have to remove the bumper strengthener behind it, which is usually thrown away by the tow bar installer.

They should not do that, incase you do want to take it off.

The local place that fitted my towbar to the vRS gave me mine, and its sat in the garage ready to go back when I can afford a heavier car to tow my caravan and my vRS becomes the track day play toy!
