What does the vrs tdi dsg drive like

Featured Replies

As I have just ordered one and the dealer only having the petrol one (which I had a go off) and a 150bhp Manual diesel octavia I'm curious as what it's like in sport mode etc and the pulling power of it?i drive a mk2 fabia vrs just now so the dsg was no contest as u live it in my fabia

I've had my vRS DSG TDi for just over three weeks, having had a 130bhp VW Passat. The car is fantastic, the DSG Box is a dream. You won't be disappointed.

Mine drives lovely, and love the gearbox. The car feels slower than my mk2 i had before however i think thats down to the power delivery as its completely different in the mk3 being a lot smoother. Iv done 2400miles now and the gearbox seems to be getting used to my driving style and has adapted accordingly.

I have a Mk2 vRS 170 CR DSG. Not exactly going to replicate the MK3 experience but Im 50/50 with it.

No doubt makes the car alot more relaxing to drive, no clutch to worry about and all but I think in the diesel particularly it does remove some of the interaction and makes it a little less appealing to drive. Personally I think DSG suits the TSi's better.

Also I have found my MK2 is not particularly efficient and have put that down to the DSG box. A manual Mk3 vRS would be more frugal and cheaper to tax too.

Far from a bad gearbox but if I had the choice again id get a manual and put up with some gear change work, save the additional spend and have a potentially mote frugal and fun to drive car.

For any vRS there's...

And the DSG is Superb, devine, gorgeous, smooth and generally wonderful.

In fact they really should come with this warning on the window.

My Tdi vRS definitely doesn't feel that fast haha

i find mine feels faster when you knock it to manual, almost as if some of the torque smoothing is turned off between gears so you get more of a shove in your back.  Probably all in my head though but im glad I went from a manual 170 to the dsg 184 :)
