Google for connects2 or xcarlink or ycarlink(yatour)...

Several solutions available, though none are that cheap. If you're planning to do anything more to the sound system, ditch the Symphony now and get an ipod capable h/u with better amping and EQ.

Ok thanks for the advice

Ive got a thingy on my fabia radio. It was on ot when I bought it. But it plugs into where the multi cd changer would go. So instead of changing multi cds you can choose ipod albums.

Of your interested ill get the name for you tomorrow on way to work ?

Think its something like dension. Denssion denson.. very good kit. And all hidden. Neat amd charges ipod. Automatically turning it on and off in sync with head unit

Are there any oem head units that do sat nav, ipos, bluetooth etc for fabias?

There is the sat nav that was an option when the MK1 Fabia vRS was new, but isn't iPod, Bluetooth or the like friendly. Aftermarket unit only for all that.

I've a connects2 also. It's fine for loud music, but you need to be careful how loud the output from the ipod/phone is.

Turn the volume down on the ipod/phone and up on the stereo and it's crystal clear, even when giving your eardrums a battering. I find it works best with my ipod touch on about two thirds volume. Anything higher causes distortion. You can turn the volume up on the stereo as much as you like then (within reason).

I also find a decent quality cable make s a big difference. I use one of these (rather than the one that came with the connects2) and find it well worth the pennies.

Very interested in this thread and the best options that other owners have experienced. Do you have to drill any holes for the connect2? (as want it to look standard and hidden).

I have an SE with the CD multichanger, have tried for the last few months with an FM transmitter and sick of it dropping out.

Also was looking at the Pure Highway from Halfords, which could be an option as you get DAB aswell.

In the middle of installing a Connects2 adapter and I have drilled a hole in the drawer below the stereo as I wanted it to look tidy also.

I squeezed mine behind the stereo to the left of the support that runs down the middle of the back of the dash.

I then ran the cable down the back of the centre console, with it coming out the the gap behind the heater controls. I can push the cable back up there when I'm not using it. The only tools I required were the ones to remove the stereo. You can pick these up on ebay for pence.

I'll try to take a picture when I head out later tonight. I also use one of these to hold the phone in place on the air vent. It's expensive, but it does a great job. I tried quite a few cheap phone/ipod holders before that and most were rubbish/too bulky/too easy to break.

theres a hole in the glove box with a tab over it you can bend the tab and feed the cable in without any drilling and looks oem ....

i find mine is fine when connected using the aux headphone jack .... its when i use the big block that connects in to the bottom of the ipod/phone that enables you to use the radio controls that music starts getting distorted at anything louder than about 6 on the radio volume

Thanks for all the help guys. Will have a look at the glove box tab when I get chance. Sounds like a super easy install and looks factory. Think I know what santa is getting me for xmas!!

Sounds like it is better to connect via the jack than the connector at the bottom for sound quality. Anyway around this, as I would like to use the stereo to skip songs etc?

thanks in advance

Having the phone/ipod on the air vent above the stereo means I can just skip tracks on that, which I wouldn't be able to do if it was hidden in the glove box.

My phone sits on the x-shaped magnetic thing I've rested the cable on when in use. I had to use it to take the image here though.

and this is where the cable pop out of the bottom of the centre console. I think the inside of my car could do with a clean!

Nice installation and handy. Have seen this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKU1078-Skoda-Fabia-1999-2007-Car-AUX-iPod-iPhone-Interface-Adaptor-/261314522618?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item3cd78f2dfa

Looks like I could just pop in the glove box and use the stereo to control. Anyone got and use one?

On a related note, why doesn't the FM radio work properly in the Fabia, I've replaced the standard stereo with a Sony one and I've replaced the standard aerial with a better aftermarket one and no bloody difference! Do I need to replace the damn lead from the new radio to the new aerial as well, or does this car just block FM on principle?

Does your new aerial have a built in signal booster? If so is it getting power from the HU?

It does indeed have a signal booster which is fed from a switched live in the nearside rear lamp cluster wiring loom.
