Urban fuel consumption whats your Citigo doing to the gallon?

Featured Replies

Hi all i have had my Citigo  Greentech 75 ps for a fortnight today, and what I'm interested is what other owners are getting to gallon around  town. Before i get told off for starting another thread moaning about poor consumption  I'm not i love my little car and wished i had bought one last year instead of my fabia its fun to drive ,easy to park  free tax etc.

Nearly all my driving is all stop start going to customers every 1/2 mile or  so and my fuelly averages 47.6 for this ,which is good for a car that now has 720 miles on the clock .I make full use of heated seats etc in mornings so i really pleased it should get better as the engine loosen's up ,I'm just wondering what all you others are getting with your cars ?

Cheers  Mick

Hi Mick

About the same here with 10k on the clock, 13 months old.

I'd imagine for stop start driving that's par for the course. It might creep upto 50 when the engine is fully ran in.

Not sure how you work out the Fuelly figures, from the PID figures or just plain old brim the tank, use then brim it again? The latter would give a more accurate figure obviously, the PID figures maybe around 5-7mpg out as I found when I initially did a check when the car was a few weeks old. I've not done another check since but it seems to be returning better mpg figures with over 8k on the clock.

Anything around mid 40's town driving and mid 50's longer distance driving I would be chuffed with.

That's good to know its on a par with your cars . I work it out by brimming the tank and then again I've only just got my pid (long story it didn't come with car and was out of stock when ordered but it's sorted now) I must admit that when I was driving last night through town and it got up to 59 to gallon that brought a smile to my face . It is the most economical car I've had for this type of driving and if gets up to nearly 50 when run in then I'll be really happy:)

Do you think the GreenTech mods have helped? - do you use the stop/start?

pid claims about 55mpg, calculation from brimming tank is closer to 48-50mpg

Yes I think they help and I use stop/start all the while , I got used to it very quickly .

I've not had pid long enough to find out but would agree from my figures that 48 to 50 is more likely

I'm getting about 55mpg round town over a long period. On 3700 miles now :)

latest figure for town work this week 47.68 to gallon brimming tank. Then went down to norfolk for a run out to take the Citigo over 1000 mile mark in 2.5 weeks  and got 58.86 to the gallon the smile on my face is getting bigger.

pid was showing 65 to gallon so a little optimistic

  • 2 weeks later...

Funny things these PID's. I've had my Citigo two months now and, never having had a PID before, I found that I was becoming almost obsessive about getting the short and long range mpg up, even though it was really good from the outset. My wife uses it in the evening and has a different driving style shall we say. When I would get in the car in the morning I felt slightly miffed at the fact that her last journey had lowered the long range mpg.

Lately I've hardly had the PID on, and I've found that (without my fuel consumption staring me in the face)I enjoy the car so much more. The fact you're not glancing at the PID every now and then kind of loosens you up and you push the car more; discover more of what it can do and have much more fun into the bargain.

I must check what wifey did when she gets home though !!!!

I had one in a Vx Omega, didn't look at it very often, especially in winter when it was telling me average...22mpg. :o  Hence I now have a Citigo
