the next fog light thread

Featured Replies

if you are driving at 50mph the fog lights will have to be illuminating the road edges at the very least 75 feet ahead to give you even the slightest chance of reacting to anything that they illuminate. If you think the fog lights really help try switching off the headlamps and driving only on fog lights then you will see how little illumination they provide..

If Dann uses his in the same sort of situations as me, you don't get to 50mph :D

My foglights are actually really surprising with how much light they actually emit. I'll have to get some pictures. But the way I see it, more light is better than less.

It's more to do with lighting the immediate road surface ahead, just inspires confidence.

I do this all the time if there's no one around on the B roads, makes going around corners much nicer as you can see the road edges etc. Don't see a problem with that.

If you re doing this with no dip or main as I suggested in point1 the I stand by my assessment that you at stupid and a retard.

If you do hvemain lights on I have no problem with that

I got shot down for doing this is in a thread (I'm pretty sure Slider was one of 'em :D ) at the start of this year.... don't see the problem myself either if nobody else is around.

Not me, no problem with this and have done it myself on occasion, but qualify that by saying its main and fogs, not sidelights and fogs

Never had a car with working front fog lights. Do they do anything good?

I'm hard pushed to see the area they light up, let alone them have any effect on my driving tbh.

I don't care what people use when no one is in front, full beam, fogs, flashing red dildo etc just turn them off when driving at me. :D

I come firmly under group 3 I am afraid! I will be the single man army against incorrect use of fog lights if I have to be. If the fog light user has an accident the CSI will discover fog light switch on and blown filaments in the lights indicating the illegal use of them!

AN EYE FOR AN EYE!!!!! Or should that be a blinded eye for a blinded eye! :giggle:

You are wrong, sorry! You were not the only one, but you hoped the police gave me a belated xmas pressie (which was extra nice of you). I also think #2 was made just for me (that was certainly my first thought when I read this) following the thread I am referring to....

As said on previous threads, it's the rear fog lights that irritate me more than front ones. The rear ones are blinding and dangerous if used inappropriately.

Ah yeah I use my dipped obviously as it's night time haha

right, prepared for the flak here but what the hell.

Things I hate most about Fog Lights.

1. Chaves who drive around with side lights and fogs on 'cause the fink they look like DRL's   - no they are fog lights, you are stupid

2. Ignorant chaves who drive around as above but on dark country roads 'cause they fink the look cool - no they are fogs you are a retard.

3. The evangelical anti fog light brigade who continually put there main beams up and blind me because they think low level DRL's might be fog lights - you are stupid and dangerous - get a life.

Over use of the 'chav' profile here, but I have an issue with people who over use/fail to turn of these lamps when not needed. Incorrect headlamp adjustment too, if you blind me when I am on my motorcycle they're too high. I get the in-car adjuster for those who load up their vehicle and can reset for that journey but I think lodas of drivers don't even know how to use it.

Late in,  just to bug Mikey.

I love those that drive with Fog Lights on, great people, should be encouraged, we need more of them.

reason being they might sometimes annoy those d!cks that think their usage of a single Fogs & T-W-A-T lights are OK.

Funny how it does sometimes it would appear.

I did qualify my point further down that thread.

Point 2 was those who use fogs and sidelights only on dark country roads - do you REALLY admit doing  that!!!!

Of course not as that would give me less light and I want more in those very occasional situations, so I use everything I have when appropriate :)
