New bumper

Featured Replies

Got back to my car to find some cretin had used my bumper to help them park.

New bumper is the most cost effective solution according to my local fixer, as there is a lot of melting and filling that would need to be done to get it back into shape.

Had a quick look on the bay of E, and there are some damaged ones going for £50-90, which would then need to be repaired and re-sprayed.

Just wondered if anyone has any other solutions out there, like an after-market bumper or something?

It's an elegance estate, and the lights, reflectors and PDC "skirt" are all intact.

Will get a picture in daylight and post it on.  Basically the plastic and paint has somehow deformed into a couple of raised ridges.  Also realised I wasn't overly clear that it's the rear bumper...

My bumper got renewed when I got hit up the rear (by a moped) and it had less damage than your bumper, it was done through the insurance.

Thanks rab. I don't really want to claim on insurance. Maybe I will just leave it until I sell it on - perhaps it will send out a signal to others in the meantime to give it a wide berth: stop other cars from parking so close?

I would buy a used one from bay of E, you can get one for about £40 with any luck it will be the same colour as your car.

... or you just wait until someone else bumps into you and their insurance will cover it. I had that "luck" a few years back when I reversed into a trailer on our driveway with my brand new Ford Mondeo Estate. And yes, I parked the trailer there my self and totally forgot it ...   ... a few months later I was rear ended in a queuing incident ... and had the bumper fixed. All nice and tidy, and for free!

Hope you get it fixed, it's always nicer when the car looks ok ...
