I suspect that they will not be of much help in the case of a severe dent but you might want to try ChipsAway - I have used them for some minor paintwork damage and the local guy was very good - I was genuinely surprised because Googling about didn't leave a very good impression of them.

If it's severe enough to justify murdering your caps lock button like that, get on to your insurance.

If it comes in at a £150 dent repair or £300 excess, i would keep away from the Insurance.

But if it's a £300 dent and a £150 excess, or a new door needed as severe would imply then it's the option to go for.
