Anywhere know a good place to get my Roomster annual serviced in the Milton Keynes area (about 20 miles in each direction). A  friend of mine is having a nightmare getting their car sorted at the Milton Keynes official Skoda dealership so I am a bit wary of going there with my new Roomster. 

 

Advice on places to go and places to avoid welcomed, I am conscious I just have one opinion so far to work with!

Progress in Northampton or Bedford if must be a dealer. Unit 18 otherwise.

Avoid the MK Skoda/VW dealer is my advice. Appalling dealership chain from experience.

Unit18 everytime

Not used Unit 18 myself, but I know it has a formidable reputation on here.

Thanks folks: this Unit18 looks to be the kind of place a boy racer or Jenson Button might go to get his car fixed (http://unit18.co.uk/) - are you sure they are all right with me turning up with my dad-car? 

 

My car has now got what I've read is the standard "INSP" call flashing, it's realised it's a year since it last went for an official service (I got a service thrown in with the purchase from an independent garage in July but I am assuming they did the minimum then). - Will these Unit18 chaps sort that or will it just flash "INSP" from now onwards? I guess this gets reset by a service engineer doing something in software (are the Skoda places the only places that will do a reset on this?)

Ali could be referred to a "lad" or a "geezer" but he is a guy with a passion for motors and serious know how.

Yes plenty of high performance modified stuff rolls through his doors but he'd take just as much care and attention over something of less sporting intent.

 

The INSP warning can be reset yourself using a combination of ignition turning and button pressing (the exact combo eludes me right now but it should be in your handbook or you'll find the details on here with the serach) and it is possible your car just "thinks" it needs a service rather than actually needing one if it was serviced in July (unloess you're doing mega miles)

Cheers PastyBoy - I'm sure the fellow's a nice chap, I'm cool with all sorts of folks, I just don't want to waste his time with a job outside what he does (mine is a bog standard low mileage Roomster, just want to get it checked over and into shape for winter). Thanks for the recommendation.

 

Thanks also about the INSP warning - I bought the car in July but the previous (first) owner got it serviced every December so I think it's the computer saying it's just gone 12 months since last Skoda official service - hence my wondering if it's going to give me that warning until I take it to a Skoda dealer who have some secret method of resetting it that only they can do.

Got my Roomster done at Unit18, and I can recommend them. Thanks folks here for the recommendation. Ali is indeed a very pleasant guy, knows his stuff (as soon as I described the electrical issue he recognised it as apparently a common issue of a loose battery terminal) and did a fine job on the car, so I will be taking it back there again. Thanks all, +1 to the briskoda community.
