Where to buy Hubcentric spacers?

Featured Replies

I need some hubcentric spacers for my winter wheels to clear my front brakes. They clash by about 2-3mm - frustratingly close. As a result I am looking for the thinnest/cheapest hubcentric spacers possible!

My first attempt at buying some didn't clear the lip on the hub, so I am really not doing very well on my own,

Can anyone recommend the cheapest hubcentric spacers available?

Cheers

Don't wheel spacers push the wheel out from the hub? If so how can they help you get the necessary clearance between the brake caliper and wheel? I take it your winter wheels are 16" items as I thought from reading all the postings on this site that you had to go 16" wheels or bigger on the vRS due to the larger caliper and discs used on the front.

They are 16" but not OEM Skoda, they are VW/Seat. As a result they just catch the brake on rotation, hence needing to push them a few mm further out from the hub! :)

Ah I see, ebay could be your friend on this occasion, had a quick look and 3mm spacers from performancealloys cost £43.27 per axle, good luck with your hunting.

Thanks Ian, were they hubcentric or just flat spacers? I've got some 5mm flat spacers already been have been warned against them.

I have found the below also which seem to fit the bill.

You should avoid hubcentric spaces that are thinner than 10mm as they can be prone to cracking

Never heard that before

Link?

I can't remember the detail but I looked into it a few years back as I wanted some 8mm ones for the front of my vRS to go with the 10mm ones on the back and a number of the manufacturers had previously discontinued 8mm spacers as the metal is too thin.  I am sure there are people running 8mm ones that are fine but personally I wouldn't take the chance with anything less than 10mm.

I read about this issue too, before I got mine.

I guess it depends on the type. With the kind that you bolt straight through with slightly longer wheel bolts I can't see how they would be stressed enough to crack. However the type that you bolt to the hub then bolt the wheels to the spacer separately, it is easy to imagine how they could fail if too thin.
