For the First Service,   even though Skoda Dealer Prices can be Expensive, i would go with the Service there.

You will not save that much else where if  what should be done is done.

If your car has any work requiring doing, or any Technical Items, only a VAG dealer might have access to those.

As hopeless as some are, they should at least be a bit familiar with them.

(i do wonder often, they do seem a bit unable to get a car serviced and turn it out with the right amount of Oil in.

Hardly Rocket Science. but some are only trainee Space Cadets.)

Just no need to pay the National Pricing charge.

Maybe have them give the Wash And Vacuum a miss,

but be sure they do the Road Test and Diagnostic Plug in.

Thought I would update the thread.

The VRs has now just clocked over 11500 miles. On a 30mile trip adverage MPG around 48.

Had a slight problem yesterday evening, started the car and it seemed to struggle, slight judder and the exhaust inspection light started flashing. Opened the bonnet, I could see / hear it struggling. After a few minutes the light went out. The car started fine the second time around, seems fine to drive now.

Plugged the scanner in, no fault codes found. Strange....

Have always run on Vpower.

Question is, was it a bit of dodgy fuel or a sensor having a grumpy moment.

Fault codes will not show on misfires if there have not been enough in any one cycle.

If you are aware of it it happening again, even though your car is still low mileage, you will need to look at all 4 spark plugs.

(and if you are aware of any misfire or get the Exhaust control light come on,]

maybe try Texco Momentum instead of Shell V-Power Nitro)

Hi George.

Thanks for the reply. I shall keep an eye on it. Didn't do it this morning.

Il try the momentum.

yeah, if it repeats this, check the plugs, could be an early warning of some crappy plugs, sometimes they dont seem to be up to the job...

Just trying to find some information regarding servicing.

I picked the vrs up with 400 miles on the clock. The servicing states in 18k miles or "date" for the service.

Im used to 10k service sqedules. Is the maxi dot correct? In the service book the code is Q16.

Should I of had a service at 10k? I do not want it to cause problems, if I need warranty work.

Thinks its usually 10k. Mine is. Its not in kilometres is it??

Not that I know of. Its strange that the service booklet states its variable.

Il have to call a dealer and find out...

It does say Variable and with Long Life Oil you can get the Oil/Filter Service done at 19,000 miles or whatever.

But if you want the car Checked over with a Minor Service, annually,

then as well to get the Oil & Filter Changed.

Minor Service about £130.  or more if they try it on.

'Inspection Service/Major service' 20,000/2 year around £180,

but some will go as high as £250. Pollen Filter is done.

On a Service Plan the car would be done on Fixed Servicing,

it is 9,400 miles (10,000) or 372 Days.

Just had a call from my local skoda dealer.

DSG recall to change gearbox oil. Car is 63 plate born sept 2013

Interesting when the other stuff seems to be indicating that it is gearboxes built before 2012/13.

hhhmm mine is 2013, and I am not being recalled!

  • 3 weeks later...

Hello, new to forum and to the vrs but picked my 2013 up a few weeks ago and was told that a recall was to be done for gearbox oil and ecu update. Car from border cars. P.s. lovin the car at the moment. Major mid/old life crisis me thinks.

Called the local dealer to confirm for the Saturday service and DSG recall (as they call it).

I spoke about the problems I have been having. The redponse I got was: oh the technician would only be able to have a quick look at that. As he wouldn't have time to do anything other than the service and DSG.

Made me laugh! Skoda UK. If your reading this. Sort it out, that's a joke!

Maybe call Skoda UK Customer Services and Raise a case on the Engine and get them to arrange an Examination of it as a Warranty Matter,

& they can ensure you have a Courtesy car while the Engine is sorted out,

& the DSG Service Campaign Field Action can be done at their leisure.

Less disruption to you as they get on with resolving the engine issues.

Skoda are already paying for the 'Field Action' work.

Well.

The car went into the dealership this morning for the recall and first service.

Droped the car off aaround 8. Car was ready at 12.30. Service carried out (variable servicing). Changed the filter, oil etc. And carried out the DSG recall.

Picked the car up, and they washed it. (I knew I forgot to tell them something. And that was not to wash the car!).

I drove to work. And then noticed a 30cm scratch on the bonnet.... wasnt there when I left it at the dealership. Crap!. Called the service department, they are now closed till Monday.

Not happy!

Also. I asked them about the engine idling and the possibility of a misfire / problem.

Nope no problem, no warning stored. All fine.

:/

Checked the engine oil after a trip today.

Hot engine over 80c, flat ground same place as I always check. Oil is past the orange blob. Way past the hatch markings.

Can a dealer not even get that wight!

I have been playing around with an App called Torque Pro for android. Using a Bluetooth Reader.

I have been looking at the custom PID scanning, specifically for Cyl misfires. This is what came up:

Cyl 5 History (I presume this means 1) - 71

Cyl 6 History - 65,455

Cyl 7 History - 65,471

Cyl 8 History - 65,454

Current Cyl 8 - 50

Has anyone else looked at this app and if so, have you got the same data?

Time do change your plugs! could you please take good close-up photos in plenty of natural light nad post it here?

I use Dashcommand on iPhone and I will try to find misfire PID to see what mine is saying. Have you looked at your fuel trims?

To be honest, im new to the torque app. I shall see if I can find the fuel readings.

I will have to get the coil pack tool first before I take the spark plugs out.

Will post up tomorrow morning.

There's plenty of info around on how to use obd2 info to diagnose engine problems :)

BTW, do you notoce misfires during driving?

Whilst driving. Not that I know of. The engine seems rough at idle cold or hot.

Cold or hot ambient or engine cold or hot? Check your fuel trims and spark timing on your torque pro at idle and driving. Best to log it and review later as distracting while driving ;)

what is this app called please so i can download to my s4?
