Have I got Winters or All-Season Tyres?!

Almost everything is hopeless on Grass or wet grass (green ice),  that was a Red Herring, sorry.

Wot?!!!!!

U, u rascal!

Grrrrrrrr

Lol

If u look at my last pic, there is a choice of:

Cold weather tyres

All season

Summer

Winter tyres

A number of retailers use 'cold weather tyres' to mean 'all season tyres' and 'winter tyres'.

A further point - some all season tyres carry the triple-peak-snowflake symbol, meaning they are treated as meeting the requirements for winter tyres in places such as Germany, Sweden, Finland ...

If it has a snowflake it's winter capable .

Ignore m+s in your case.

Just to hammer home a well made point.

If you have this then you are good to go!

I think its a marker you can check with chalk to show what position they were on when you change back to summers.

I just write on the inside face of the rim with chalk. FR, FL, RL, RR.

Are we going to go through every bit of text on your tyres? :)

Not better to switch them all around (front to back etc)

for more even wear?

In fact,

Wot do others do?

How can you swap them around if you don't know where they came from?

On my 4x4, the best pair on the front (to wear them evenly and replace as a set). On our FWD, the best pair on the rear.

I always arrange my tyres as :

Rear left

Rear right

Front left

Front right

Its just comforting text for the people who don't know what the certification logo means. The only bits you need to care about are the official bits.

Over the last several years I have had Avon Ice Touring and Vredestein Snotrac3 winters and Quatrac2 "all season" I must admit noticed no drop in performance in winter with the Quatracs. In fact the tread pattern is remarkably similar to the Avons. All 3 bear the mountain/snowflake symbol.

the biggest hindrance is the stupid fashion for low, wide tyres that drivers are convinced they need.

I write on them when I take them off then swap front and back next time they go back on.
