I have a 53 plate octy vrs with a auq

 

the car seems to run fine from the first cold start but after it warms up and you switch the car off and then later try to start it, it becomes dead. the car used to fire for a second and then cuts out now its stopped starting altogether.

 

I don't seem to be hearing the fuel pump so could this be an issues with either the fuel pump or the 409 relay??

 

want to get other peoples vies on it or wanted to know if anyone else has had the same problem and how to fix it cheers. 

Does the immobiliser light go out?

Does the car feel sluggish? My car did this for months. Really good cold start but taking 4 or 5 attempts when warm. I changed the maf sensor eventually due to total failure and the fault disappeared. Try disconnecting the maf sensor see if it starts any better. If it does thats what it is.

yes the immobilizer light goes off.

 

did feel like its lost power is remapped 235bhp but felt like it was less then 180bhp.

I will try the maf in the morning, ive spoken to a mechanic and he reckons its the fuel pump as the revs would max out at 4k and then drop to 3k all the time when being revved up on tick over and he claims that was the pump on its last legs.

 

also the pump dose not prime anymore

 

any one else reckon that could be the fault ?

Has it been scanned for fault codes?

I don't think he's getting a cel on the dash so there won't be any codes. But I didn't when my maf was faulty. I'm not sure about fuel pumps. I thought when they failed the car wouldn't run at all, but I don't hear mine priming every time. Start with the easy ( and cheap ) things first. Maf unplug, boost hoses split, throttle body clean, n75 valve.

Does sound like a pump or relay issue.

 

Outside chance of the coolant sensor as well from what you said about cold start being fine but hot start no good.

Crank sensor could be a problem....I had an Alfa with the same symptoms (cold start fine and when warm wouldnt start) cost me about 80quid to fix

Revs are limited when stationary

no fault codes the car has started running fine but the pumps whines all the time

and going to change the pump and see how far I get
