New Superb Article Auto Express

Featured Replies

It was in the mag last week as to the insight of what it is likely to be.

As long as the engines are up to date as that has been Skoda's weakest link on nearly all of their cars.

Looks to me just another rendered (i.e. photoshoped) version. And mid-2015 looks over promising a bit, as new Passat is expected to be presented in September 2015.

I am not so worried about the looks and more about bringing the car up to date technology and engine wise.

I've never felt the Superb a good looking car, more roomy and exceptional value, but now marques such as Peugeot and Citroen are upping their game and at lower cost

Options should now include Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring,Radar Cruise Control, Auto Dip Headlights to name but a few

Engines must offer more power, better economy and lower CO2

If they are keen to keep me as a customer

I'd think these will be a given as they are on the new Octavia.

Not really. You could only really accuse the Yeti and Superb of that; the Octavia has the latest TSIs and the Fabia/Roomster/Rapid are at least on a par with the opposition. VW are still using the old 1.4-16v in the Polo for example whereas the Fabia has the 86BHP TSI.

Well it claims....

"Our image shows the saloon model, which is expected to ditch the heavy and expensive dual-opening boot. An estate version will also be offered."

It's the dual-opening point that attracted me to the Superb - so if that goes I'd think twice about getting a new model!

It would be far easier with just a hatch, just having a boot makes it extremely hard to get 4 large case and other small ones in

I think the twindoor was largely invented to appeal to the Chinese who don't like hatchbacks. With the Rapid, Skoda made a true saloon version to appeal to the Chinese market and I guess this could happen with the next Superb too.

Germany isn't so keen on the hatchback either.

Take your typical BMW, Audi and Mercs, all saloons.

I've had a saloon, never again, big boots but the opening is too small so you can't get anything in!

I love the twindoor as the saloon opening opens by itself with a press of the key for small day-to-day stuff. Anything bigger then open up the whole lot, it's brill!

Twindoor - Genius idea.

I thought BMW were supposed to be using this on one of thier cars, either a 5 or 7 series.

It was or is called the 5 series GT. I believe they have just launched a 3 series one now too

Sounds like they would ditch the hatch rather than the small boot lid - a bad move IMHO

If they ditch the twin door system I wouldn't be too fussed. As long as they didn't make it a saloon. It is good as silver1011 say as you can through small stuff in without even having to touch the car,and open it fully when you have large items. For myself I would never buy a saloon for the reason that silver1011 stated, big boot small opening.

This was my car on Sunday loaded up going to see my wifes sisters before xmas.

Couldnt fit anything else in. It may have fitted in a saloon but it certainly wouldnt have been as easy.

This was how I treated my Insignia hatchback when it was only a few months old
