Poor Goodwill Contribution When Outside of Warranty (Expired)

Featured Replies

I am glad there seems to be quite a few good Skoda dealers out there judging by the comments....its a pity the 2 dealers nearest to me are a bunch of t@#£*rs !!

The first service on my Blackline was done at an independent VW specialist and i wouldnt go anywhere else (have done for years when i had my Fab vRS). Not as cheap as a dealer for servicing but i know damn well they do a better job !!

Rant over.

ps i wouldnt expect anything outside of a warranty though even if i did get the servicing done at a dealer.

I believe that under various UK and EU consumer laws you may have legal recourse to claim for up to 6 years for certain things if "faulty".

Goodwill is not done out of the goodness of their heart but to show some compliance with the law, and to a lesser extent as a marketing tool.

P.s. I know that its easy to get 30% discount from a dealers parts dept, so even 50% discount on parts offer is not really costing SUK anything.

The entire exhaust system, just like brakes and clutch is considered a consumable item, since it will fail over time. Short town journeys will cause the exhaust to fail prematurely because moisture in the system is not evaporated so it will rust from the inside out. The DPF sensor, by its very design does not like short runs either, I believe that is what killed the sensor on my old PD140 MK2 superb.

Hi 'vrskeith' the mileage of the vehicle is 62,000.

I think i agree with 'Huskoda' there is no reason to over pay by around 70-100% on servicing when in warranty as it does not seem to gain you anything with Skoda compared to the Honda example.

Next car if Skoda will have extended warranty, serviced independently but to Skoda standards (and parts), BUT will be serviced independently.

Thanks for all you good points.
