Light switch...

Featured Replies

... on my SE (i.e. no Xenons, unfortunately). Driving into a mist patch last night, I went to pull out the switch to the fog lamp setting and it came away in me 'and, so to speak, pulling the pale grey plastic barrel of the switch out of the dash, but not far enough to reveal any wires. Gave me a bit of a turn, but fortunately the lights stayed on. I can't quite see how it's retained (clips at the back of the barrel?) and unwilling to deploy my mechanical remedy of choice (UHU) until I know how it works. Has anyone had this to pieces?

Thanks in anticipation.

How old is your car; still under warranty :wonder:

Not the first time I've heard of this and probably you would be safer getting a new switch.

Three years tomorrow! But bought recently so with one year warranty, so I'll try to go for the new switch. Thank you very much.

Or you could put super glue on it and push it back in.... Works a charm....

You didn't accidentally push it in when you first turned the lights on? Is it the switch and the surround with the symbols on, or just the inner bit that turns?

Turn the lights off and push it back into place it should click.

Trouble with superglue is, that if you need to get the switch out or replace for any reason  - you can't.

I thought I'd read on here of a faulty batch of headlight switches?

They are used across the Skoda range and issues of a similar nature have been reported in several other threads.

Don't use glue. The method for legitimately removing the headlight switch involves a process of pushing, turning and pulling.

I have this issue with my 2010 yeti Elegance,I went to put the front and rear fogs on and the whole switch came out,not good when your driving on the M6 at 5 am.Should this be covered on my warranty from Lister Skoda ? if it's a known problem then I may persuade them to replace it on safety grounds.
