Hi all,

I'm thinking of putting a VRs bumper onto my 1999 estate TDI. I've had pre/post 2001 images side by side and it looks like Skoda changed the bonnet, and bumper and utilised the old wings and indicators?? I searched on here and found this thread:

But it isn't conclusive. I'll drop the Author a line too. Does anyone else have any info of what's involved?

Wouldnt that be more than your car is worth though mate?

Cheers dude, can get a second hand bumper for less than a ton, I guess a bonnet n the rest from a scrap yard for less than £200 and I can do all the installation/paint my self so might not be too heavy. Some would argue what's the point, it's only an old tdi, but I enjoy doing things like this and not really that botherd about loosing a few hundred quid when I come to sell it.

lol yea mate, don't think you need the bonet tho mate, just the grill and brackets for it.

 

you will need the slam panel tho that's behind the bumper that holds the lights and rad pack

Bonnet is different shape where it meets the top of the headlights I think..

ill have a look at work, there is a lad there with an olde pre FL one. I am sure they are same tho tops of the lights are same shape, only the bottoms push out more.

Don't think they are the same, the pre-fl ones are pretty much completely horizontal where as the FL ones go down towards the middle.. I think!

No mate bonets are the same.

Its tge grills that are different

I thought the bonnet was different where it meets the lights too, did a side by side PIC for easy comparison, I'll post it up soon. Thanks for the input everyone.

How did you get on?

 Some would argue what's the point, it's only an old tdi, but I enjoy doing things like this

Indicators are the same shape, but a different electrical connection and mounting...

Had to replace one of mine and the shop got a pre-lift one by mistake. swapped it to the correct one no problems tho,

just a 24 hr wait for it to be delivered down.

Not had time to go thru them all yet mate.
