hello there. just wondering, whats the difference in the octavia elegance and the pd classic. which is the better spec? what should i watch out for if buying either of these cars. id be looking to buy a diesel octavia. thanx.

Pd classic is taxi spec and very basic iirc. Elegance will have climate control, electric windows all round, CD changer. Taxi may not have air con or even electric windows.

The PD Classic will also be a slightly newer style of diesel too, while the elegance is more likely to be 110 variety....

 

Elegance will also have heated electric mirrors, colour coded wing mirrors, door handles and roof rails (if an estate)

If it is the 110bhp TDI then give it the beans and rev it over 3k to make sure it doesn't go into limp mode.

Also cam belt changes are 60k miles or 4 years.

A couple of octy's have started suffering from rust in the tailgate if they are the estate version. 

As trundlenut says, rev the **** out of it when its warm to check the engine is fine. My engine (pre turbo clean) would go into limp mode up hills when held about 3-3.5k
