Octy3 Elegance 4x4 on the way early next year...

Featured Replies

Good call by Skoda UK there.

Jan/Feb the Elegance spec Octavia mk3 will be available to order with 4x4 from what I hear

Just need the Adaptive cruise control back now. :D

Oh, and a poky petrol engine...

Now that is interesting news! Hmm,  'next car' confusion really reigns now!  Thanks for the post.

Elegance, 1.8 TSI, 4x4 and DSG... That'd be interesting. ;)

...with the K04 off of Beti...  ;)

Shame the ECU hasnt been hacked yet.

Bit of a kick in the knackers for people who wanted more kit, so got the SE and added a lot of options though.

Will this include the hatch, or will it just be the estate (and if so, why?!).

Neil

The 4x4 was always available only on the estate...

Why is that?

Skoda's upper management can tell you that...

Intresting and I would have liked the Elegance spec but it might be just that little to expensive even factoring the £560 worth of Elegance options I've added to the SE order :wonder:

Ohhhh no it wasn't!....I had a MkI Elegance 1.8T 4x4 Hatch and it was brilliant! MkII was only available as Estate or Scout though. I would go for a MkIII 4x4 but don't like estates so hopefully they will allow this combination again.

only on the mk1 and yes, massively underrated as an all rounder :)

Agreed, have been Googling to check and edited above post accordingly, cheers.

Fuel economy would be scary???

In Sweden we already have the following spec (elegance) in both estate and hatch:

4x4 tsi 1.8 (180ps) Dsg6

4x4 tdi 1.6 (105ps)

4x4 tdi 2.0 (150ps) Dsg6

I chose the standard Rs with 18" Nokia hakka (300pcs spikes on one wheel) .

There's no reason to have 4x4 when it's snow free 8month/year.

If you want an SE then it makes sense, but the Elegance (just as with the Yeti) comes with a fair amount of kit and usually worth the extra cash.  Plus nicer seats etc...

For a start off an Elegance has Admundsan, so Columbus is only an £800 option.

Something I'd always add.

On the 2wd Manual 2.0 150 diesel the cost difference between the SE and Elegance is £1,850.

But you get:

Interior, Standard Equipment (over SE)

  • Alcantara and leather upholstery
  • Auto dimming rear view mirror
  • Floor mats
  • Front centre armrest with storage area within
  • Multi-function steering wheel (radio and telephone control)
  • Rear centre armrest with cup holders
  • Storage box under passenger seat
  • Variable boot floor (Estate only)

Exterior, Standard Equipment (over SE)

  • 17" 'Teron' alloy wheels with anti-theft bolts
  • Telescopic front headlight washersSafety,

Security & Technology, Standard Equipment (over SE)

  • 2 SD card slots
  • Amundsen satellite navigation (with proximity sensor) and European maps
  • Colour Maxi-dot trip computer
  • Cruise control
  • Intelligent light assistant (high beam assistant)
  • Rain sensor

Seems like a good deal to me.

Fuel economy would be scary???

About 40mpg for me

Yes the Elegance spec is well equipped but without confirmed availability, launch price etc. it would be difficult to amend my order, even if I could at this late stage, albeit I still have 10 weeks to go apparently on the latest forecast and finally also add in the Jan price rise :wonder:

Also have a feeling SUK might not offer the RRP on the Elegance, as that would mean dropping the bling 17" rims for 16" (default with Octy RRP, unlike the Yeti :giggle:  ) and I don't believe you can get the fold down front seat in the UK on the Elegance spec either.

Without further info I think I'm safer and cheaper to stay as I am despite that nice spec, mind I'm getting to like the idea of regaining control of when the lights come on and wipers operate and at what speed ;)  :giggle:

Id have liked a 2.0 TDi 4x4 Elegance but the price differential over the 2wd car would for me be difficult to justify, particularly given the extra cost also brings more weight, less performance and greater running costs. Would be a great all-rounder though.

Also think its highly unlikely we'll ever see a 1.8 TSi Octavia in the UK now given the 1.4 is so good anyway. Sort of a shame but is a bit niche so can sort of see why SUK havent bothered.....the FL 4x4 didnt exactly sell well in the UK either did it? The Scout "might" get it but I suspect it'll be 150 and 184 TDi's only.

Foxy,

Where did you hear this from? I'd hold my SE back for an Elegance if the price was right, see below......

  • Auto dimming rear view mirror [Ordered with High Beam Assist]
  • Floor mats [Part of Deal]

  • Multi-function steering wheel (radio and telephone control) [Ordered]
  • Rear centre armrest with cup holders [standard on all Estates]
  • Storage box under passenger seat
  • Variable boot floor (Estate only) [Ordered]

Exterior, Standard Equipment (over SE)

  • 17" 'Teron' alloy wheels with anti-theft bolts [Tried to order 17s]
  • Telescopic front headlight washersSafety,

Security & Technology, Standard Equipment (over SE)

  • 2 SD card slots

.....so apart from Headlight sqwooshers, colour maxidot and  Sat Nav I'm nearly there already (though I have ordered RRP too). I can't imagine that Elegance would be that much more expensive than what I'm paying. Hmmmph!

Also may affect the resale. In 3 years time who wants to dig online for a well specced SE when they could just search for a fractionally newer Elegance and have confidence on what's fitted as standard. Double Hmmph!!

Any evidence of the Elegance 4x4 incoming would be gratefully received to make an informed judgement.

Fuel economy would be scary???

Well, the manual states that it is worse than the TSI VRS so could be scary depending on the situation. In my personal case, the TSI DSG VRS has horrible fuel economy as it is averaging 14-17 mpg. :D

SIDE NOTE - Am I the only one who laughs when you consider that you have to buy an elegance spec to get floor mats thrown in as default?

Q? What January price rise?  Fact or rumour?

TIA, DC

Panic over.

Have spoken to my dealer who has digested today's technical bulletin on this issue. Would need just over £1k to get into an Elegance with RRP over my spec. Which given that the difference is headlight sqwooshers, Sat Nav, Suede Seats and Colour Maxidot (which are all IMHO non-essential) and would be a not dissimilar cost to option on the existing build any way, means I'm more than happy to stay where I am and keep the money in the bank (or off the finance dependent on how you look at these things). If the difference was only a couple of hundred pounds then it might be a different matter. I then factor in any delay in placing a new order and sticking where I am is definitely best. Phew!

On the extra plus side, the car is still in for a Week 2 build and there is a solution to my desire for 17s that may well be solved FOC, rather than paying for them as an option. Happy days!!

Niall
