Putting a sports cat in a decat pipe

If you can do the fabrication work yourself it saves a lot, when I did the downpipe and cat for my felicia I had no choice but to fabricate one, it's not like you can just phone up and say " 1.8t felicia downpipe please" to the exhaust shop, including having all the flanges laser cut from stainless steel, and buying stainless steel elbows and mandrel bent pieces from jetex it cost less than 300 quid to make the whole downpipe and cat section, I can't remember where I got the cat from now but it was just a universal weld-in type.

No it would be permanent, a sports downpipe is circa £450.

Decat pipes are £90. 200cell Catalysts are £100. then fabrication at an exhaust specialist.

I stand corrected. Didn't realise the parts were that cheap!

Why then are sports cats so expensive? It can't cost ~£250 to weld it in especially at the point of manufacture!

Read the ad mate says doesn't fit vrs model not sure why looks like it will be for some reason the listing says it won't.

It does fit the VRS as i fitted one to a friends VRS

If you get lucky these can sell for quite cheap

Has anyone succesfully added a sports cat into their decat pipe?

May save a couple of hundred quid if it works!

You could add a 200 cell to a decat exhaust as this has been done a few times. You need the 2 piece decat and you can cut a weld the 200 cell into the 2nd section. As the 200 cell is small it fit's quite nicely.

There are benefits to do this.

1. much cheaper option

2. the decat is a large bore and pretty straight sections making better exhaust gas flow with the 200 cell than even some of the available sports cat's
