Help! - I can't see when it rains

Featured Replies

Right, I applied some stuff called Rain Wizard to my windows a few months ago and now when it rains the wipers just make a horrible mess and you can't hardly see the road :o

My question is: Should i re-apply it?

or (what i think might be best as i suspect r wizard might be carp)

what is the procedure for removing its remains from my screen?

Once it is all off will it be ok or do i need to coat it with something else?

Cheers

Andy

To remove it you could try some MC2 if you have some?

After that try something like AutoGlym Car Glass Polish which is fantastic stuff!

If you need a coating on the windows try ombrello it works, just do a search for it on here or on google

From my experience of using Rain-X (a very similar product), the application is all important. It is vital to follow the instructions otherwise the whole process is ruined.

I think Rain-X is something like - polish the glass first, apply Rain-X, re-apply Rain-X, sprinkle water on the screen, polish off and then buff.

A pain in the ar$e to do, but I shall be applying the stuff to my new toy this weekend. Along with a polish, wax and tidy-up! Looking forward to it!

Sorry it's a bit late now, but the perceived wisdom is that Rain-X is great for as long as you keep re-applying it (at a cost).

It works by filling in the minor indentations naturally occurring in glass, hence to give the sheeting effect.

Often used by dealers for cars standing on their forecourts.

It's a trade-off IMO between the cost of re-applying it - and like said, has to be done properly in any case or goes smeary, or removing it as best you can.

Turtle Wax Glass Clear... fantastic stuff! and cheap!

I'd rate Ombrello too. Not the cheapest, but some very high mileage drivers here use it ;)

p.s. they also rated it - check out in the reviews section ;)

On a similar subject (sort of) I just bought a set of bosch wipers for my octy rs. They didn't have the ones specified for the octy but a set of 21/19 AS ones fitted and work fine although the driver side spoiler is a little smaller than the original.
