I've just changed my DV and fitted a revised version as recomended after my old one had a split .after fitting I took it for a drive and immediately it felt a lot more torquey.Went from 1st 2nd then 3rd and gave it some beans and the car felt lumpy then the management light came on! Limped it back to the garage and pulled p0300 and p0301.Is this a coil pack just deciding (now it boosting better )to die or can a faulty DV be a possibility ? DV is new straight from dealer.

Any advise would be great.

Sounds very similar to how my coil packs failed. This happened shortly after a map and new DV (S3 rev d).

That's great cheers.Ive got new plugs and a coil coming tomorrow morning.Doing the night shift on the car anyway (timing belt on it)

Just a quick point, if you're changing just one coil pack; it's almost a guarantee the others will fail shortly after.

It's advised to change all four. :)

I think all four would be overkill, but if one failed I would definitely buy two and keep the second one on standby in the boot and keep replacing them that way - always having a spare.

I would also always buy only bosch or genuine vag ones, from experience with the brother in law's polo, the pattern parts from motor factors are made of chocolate - definitely a case of buy cheap, buy twice (or even thrice)

Ok ,I've fitted the new coil pack and new platinum plugs and what a difference!! The cars always seemed a bit flat with power only at the top end and changing the dv ,plugs and coil pack have given it so much more torque. It seems to come in a big wallop low down then a slight lull then push again towards the top end. Hopefully the slight dip is due to the car needing to adjust slightly to its new found tlc.

So far T/belt and water pump ,full service,dv,coil pack,rear discs and pads,rear calipers,(all from main dealer) Hids fitted along with LED side lights and plate lights,winter steels with snowtrac 3's ,new window switches,gearknob and cruise stalk.

Still a long way to go :(

Don't waste time just changing one, change all four.
