Test Drive Tomorrow VRS TDI Estate

Featured Replies

We'll taking a test drive tomorrow in the VRS estate, feeling the pressure after reading all speculation about deals coming to an end 0% & free servicing etc just stuck on options now, Candy White estate, manual, black design pack, variable boot floor, space saver wheel contemplating canton sound system but is this worth upgrading from standard?

Personally I think Sunset glass is a MUST combined with the black pack

Second sunset glass particularly with the candy white and possibly the winter pack if you have early or late winter starts; diesel takes forever to warm up.

TP

Depends what you like really. I like my music so went for canton and had not been disappointed. I wasn't bother about sunset glass and black pack isn't for me. Horses for courses lol

just cruise over std car for me

Bad call going for a test drive feeling pressured to buy because an offer may or may not be coming to an end. It may end but as has happened before may well be immediately replaced with something similar.

Having worked with the group I just ordered with, they told me 0% is going end of Dec. like me, just agree a favourable deal and put down a minimal £200 deposit. Gives you a bit of wiggle room if you change your mind.

I'll be surprised if they don't have some incentives in place to tempt buyers after Christmas

...replaced with something similar.

or better!

Economy and buyer confidence is still fragile - if no new deals from 1 January 2014 watch Skoda sales drop off a cliff.

Always swings and roundabouts - they'll give with one hand and take with the other.

Test drive done, car ordered £400 off on the road price + following options for £0 Canton Sound System, Black Design Pack, Sunset Glass & Winter Pack. VRS Estate in Candy White manual box now the wait begins!

Let's say Skoda do offer new deals and they are more favourable than the one we have ordered with...we are entitled to get the better deal aren't we?

Yes. You can keep your existing one OR chose the new one.

I doubt whether Skoda will offer anything too tempting because these cars are in-demand and they have a ~5 month backlog. They could quite easily increase margins and cut the delays for the forthcoming 3-6 months. This will keep both VAG shareholders and existing customer orders satisfied.

I doubt that.

Nice, no standard cruise?  That is a necessity in my opinion, tragic that Skoda omitted it, although I don't do a lot of motorway miles, when I do the cruise is something that wouldn't buy a car without it.

Either way, you seem to of got a good deal, enjoy the wait and enjoy the car, similar in spec to mine when it arrives :-)

I wouldn't buy a car without cruise control now.

I didn't opt for cruise each to there own, but much of my driving too and from work involves 8 or so miles back roads before hitting the motorway for another 20, never really used cruise on previous cars.

I use it on every journey, bloody love it.

Cruise is a mixed bag, handy if the road has no downward slopes but when it does find all the VAG cars ive had just run away with themselves and you have to hit the brakes anyway, the standard CCS being unable to retard the ignition enough and having no control over the brakes. A nice to have but not really essential...just insulting its not standard fit on a 23-24k Skoda I guess.

Not had that problem on 2 mkIIs and my mkIII. Keeps the speed perfectly provided the correct gear is selected, they cut the throttle just as much as the driver can do by taking his foot off the pedal.

My MK5, MK6 Golfs and current vRS DSG are all like it, go down a steep hill and it'll just run away certain yours are no different. All mine have been diesels which to be fair dont engine brake well (in my experience anyway) so maybe a little exaggerated over a petrol car.

Just think cruise is a bit pointless if you have to keep cancelling and resetting it just because you end up pointing downhill but it is useful on a flat piece of road granted.

I know newer BM's CCS can dab the brakes to keep the speed exact at all times.

Mines fine, but like i said I don't go down very steep hills in the wrong gear.

Thats fair enough Neily but I regularly went through a 50 average speed area that had a good mile of relatively steep descent and the only way it would maintain constant speed down that hill was to manually put it in 3rd and let it sing its heart out at 3k rpm, noisy and annoying in equal measure, just as easy to knock it in drive and modulate the speed ones-self.
