Im after some info regarding subtle non-warranty voiding performance mods. Can anyone definitively confirm what would and wouldnt void the warranty?

I'd be looking at panel filter, bigger air inlet pipe, ECU remap.

Are these likely to void the warranty? What would I expect to gain? How much are they likely to cost?

Thanks in advance,

Ben

Technically, there are none.

But I'd get a Mr Hoot digital tuning box that can be removed without trace... ;)

Don't show this to ChavyBoy ;) He was lusting after one of these beasts not too long ago

(Dragon) www.mrhoot.com and look for digital tuning box for the PD engine. Also search on eBay for them as they sell direct on there for about

This ?

I take it theres a few owners on here with these ? What degree of perf enhancement is generally used (as it says there are 7 adjustable positions) ?

And have any problems been noted with the increased level of power such as being more prone to understeer?

oh, and please do show chavyboy the link !

That's the one. It works by just increasing the amount of fuel that goes into the engine (standard diesel tuning), but when I ran one I saw up to 5mpg increase in economy during normal driving. If you keep the boot down all the time, obviously economy will drop, but that's the same as with a remap :D Powerwise, I think they reckon on about 160bhp, but I don't know if anyones had one rolling roaded to confirm that....

If you wanted a remap, there's plenty of reviews on here of various offering's with Custom Code coming out best so far I believe, but obviously all these will invalidate your warranty :D

Thanks for the info mate, much appreciated :)

have you driven one with one of these boxes? I wonder if the real useable power band is widened ?

The one I had on my Fabia was a cheap

oh yeh the handling of the scooby was really sorted out at Powerstation they did an incredible job.

im not expecting anything near the scoob handling or performance, but I did have a lot of fun - albeit in a diffeent way - when I took the vRS for a test drive.

I was surprised at how tight and responsive the turn in was in standard config, but the ride did feel quite saggy - although my scoob is ultra back breaking hard :/

Do some searches on the following mate:

Seat strut brace (makes the steering feel even better  )

Cupra 160 air intake

Green panel filter

they are the 'bread and butter' mods :D

  • Author

Thanks Goodas, will do :)

For the Strut brace I assume the most advantageous is front top?

Ben

Yep its cheap and easy to fit, gives a bit more feel...sold at Seat dealers as is the cupra intake (although prob need to order them in)

There was some debate about fitting lower ones because the sump of the diesel block is very low and some of them rub or wont fit. Doubt you need one unless you go 'hardcore' :)

edit...the strut brace is the same as for the ibiza

thanks again mate :)

friendly bunch on here...

You could consider an AMD One click or REVO if you want a proper remap but they are both switchable, I also believe STAR performance do one, although i'm unsure what it's called.

What have you had done to yours Hellfire?

  • 2 weeks later...

Check out Custom-Code

This is switchable via lap top and cable.

www.custom-code.co.uk is the web site.

Works well with the PD diesels and will take the BHP up to 170.

Torque is fantastic on this remap.

Fuel consumption can get better too.

Is this like an AmD one click then? Do they supply a device by mail order that you can switch over yourself?

This is done via a lap top and a vag com cable.

Download settings from the web site.

It has a section on the web site headded custom settings.

This is how its done.

Sarah

I think Ben now knows what can be gained from tweaking the fabia a bit :D;)

So no need to get it installed at JBS then? Is it a case of simply calling & making the necessary payment & then if we have VAG-COM & laptop you will give us a web site link to download the code ourselves? if so I like :D

What have you had done to yours Hellfire?

Had a custom map done on mine mate & a few other "tweaks"
