Turbo Dump Valve

Featured Replies

The turbo dump valve went on my vRS this week, but because I was keeping a steady speed along the M4, the first I noticed was when a golf TDI pulled away from me outside Swindon.

Thankfully Fish Brothers Skoda garage replaced it (on warranty) with a spare the following day and replaced with new this morning.

I just wanted to let anyone in the Swindon area know that the service I got from Fish Brothers Skoda was excellent. I'm very happy.

Cheers chaps.

BTW I was dead impressed with the engine's performance without the turbo - but nice to have it back, now where was that Golf :p

Impressed with the performance without the DV.........

........but probably not good for your turbo as the boost will be vented through the waste gate (I think that's what it does anyway).

Glad you got it sorted. I would recommend that you get an uprated DV as the OEM ones are prone to failure. Cost around

I got the Bailey Motorsport one from Jabba yesterday as a precaution and it was recomended by Mike for that very reason.

Snap!:D

Thanks guys, but mine belongs to ING... I have to stick with OEM and (worse :( ) have to put up with reading about the wonderful things Jabba can do without being able to put them into practice.

What's the part no. on the Bailey one? Is it called DV30? Does it fit under the plastic cover?

/FD

Don't kno wthe number but it does fit under the engine cover.

 Why would the colour matter if it's hidden under the engine cover?

Thats what I think now i have one.

Before it was fitted I thought it would be nice to be colour coded then after fitting ( realised cover covered it) thought what's the point in colour coding it.....

Are you going to get a Bailey DV when you get your's Jabba'd -- would suggest you do to save any reliability issues the the rather crud standard one :D

Yes. I was already considering it; reading this thread has made up my mind. Do Jabba keep them in stock?

Fellow ClubB5'er mistertam wrote this comparison quite some time ago to a warm reception. http://dv.mistertam.com/

In a nutshell, unless you're seriosuly interested in servicing one of the metal diverter valves, the oem Audi TT part was the one to go with. Its low cost and higher spring rate for better control of higher boost are the near perfect combination for chipped cars doing the daily driver thing. The servicable units applied more to the track cars where the spring could be shimmed for even greater control over excess boost (shorter open/closing times when off boost as when shifting gears).

Fish Brothers are nice people. I bought my car from them. Sometimes I wish their workshop was a teeny bit more "on the ball" but otherwise very happy with them.

Having spent the last 16 years working in a VAG dealership -- the last few dealing with various TT failings -- I would not fit a standard DV to a standard car - never mind a chipped one -- we are always replacing these bloody things - so much so we keep at least 5 in stock at any time.

Wow, that's disappointing to read. Our software comes from a variety of tuners (mine is APR) and all are pretty equal in terms of maximum boost raised to 1 bar (14psi). Some chips go beyond but are treading into unreliable waters but most all have been okay with the OEM TT part. We're not going above 225hp at the flywheel in most cases and the boost levels are within what that part does for the stock TT.

Are you guys boosting much beyond 1 bar when you chip/re-map?

Doesn't seem to make much difference -- doesn't alter the fact we get plenty failures - on standard cars.

Maybe the DV valve for US market is different ?

My own vehicle is boosting just over 1 bar (I think) but some are up 1.4 bar(or is that 1.416v :D)
