note for those fittings a new sump

Featured Replies

Just a note for anyone fittting a new sump on their vrs.. you will need a ball ended allan key for 2 of the bolts ;)

aftet removing mine I found out needed this. 2 of the bolts ate a right pain !!

Also be a good time to change your bottom engine/gearbox mount as it needs to be removed to get the sump off ;)

And also the 23.99 sumps on ebey with oil level sensor blanking plates are a perfect fit. As good as factory ;) and allot cheaper !

I found the cheap ones to be of a poor casting.

I ended up with a crack that leaked oil along a casting line.

So upgraded to a shallow sump jobbie!

Nice. Does that mean you need less oil ??

Less margin for error if something goes wrong

Hmm shallow sump means I could run lower. I like that ****!!

It's only a bit shallower..

My own car has had a smashed sump twice, and it's been fine.. So far!

14mm shallower IIRC? Something else to possibly upgrade to! :)

Yeah, something like that.. It's more the fact that the steel section would be more likely to take a knock, rather than crack like the alloy sumps.

I got mine through work as the parts are genuine vag parts. Think it came to £125 - 130 ish.. So would be a bit more for someone out of the trade. Think they are around the £100 at darkside developments, without VAT though.

Looks good that sump :)

What does it come off/is it for from VAG?

So you have disconnected the oil level sensor?

All Fabia vRS have an oil level sensor??

Don't think any fabia's have the level sensor mate

My PD100 never had a level sensor, but my ASZ does have a plug in the sump. :)   I distinctly remember it as one of the things I gained with my conversion.

My 53 plate has a oil level sensor but later ones don't. Not sure if it was during the engine change or before though.

Hmm, could be a BLT thing indeed,  :)

I don't think so.

My 04 ASZ has one. My friends 54 plate ASZ didn't.

My 54 asz doesn't have a sensor which I'm glad as I need a new sump and it's cheaper without lol

My 53 ASZ definitely has a level sensor.

Looks good that sump :)

It is off a Beetle from the Mexican market I believe.

Part numbers

Sump 06A 103 601T

Pick up pipe 06A 115 251G

Hope this helps

Well to sum....p it all up

...

God im sad haha

If you are on about phils sump you can buy it from darkside, its not much shallower but has a stainless steel bottom not cast so it will bend instead of crack when you hit something.
