New Yeti Ordered

Featured Replies

Well I've stuck with the badge this long so took the plunge and ordered a replacement for my Superb this morning

I've ordered the 170DSG Elegance Outdoor with a few extras and better still it's on 0% and 3 years free servicing!!!

Been told 15-18 weeks, anyone have any recent experience of lead times?

Yes - too long!

My Elegance was originally ordered 28th Oct with a 3 month quoted delivery time (end Jan/beginning Feb). Recently advised that scheduled for wk 9 build with expected delivery end of March/beginning of April. As not prepared to wait that long, reluctantly cancelled.

I will probably regret it though!

Hi my 110 ordered in October was 10 weeks from order to collection, but others who ordered before  me are looking at build week 2 through to 9,  all depends on the dealer allocation and luck I think.

Enjoy your beast when it arrives

Yes, I agree that  it does seem to be all down to dealer allocation.

You need to revisit your original order mate :-)

Too late I'm afraid as I have already purchased another new car.

Looking back, maybe I should have waited but I am too impatient, and the initial quoted 3 months was just about on my limit of patience. Also, it was partly my fault for changing the original order on 7th October, 3 weeks later from SE to Elegance, which created a new order/build week. Had I have been told this, I would have left SE order, and probably now be enjoying a FL Yeti.

Anyway, I change my cars so frequently, I dare say another FL won't be too long away, and I have previously enjoyed Yeti ownership so at least I know what I am missing.

Seeing your beauty though, does make me wonder if I should have stuck with it.

So which car did we get, as a replacement for the F/L Yeti Truthseeker ?

Tony

Re - the 0% & 3 years free servicing, read last week that the 0% etc is being withdrawn on Dec 31st for Yeti's and some Vrs cars.

As to the l-o-n-g wait for a Yeti, I waiting 3 months for a showroom model that is just sitting there that seems to be smiling at me each time I drive past.

Sorry Tony but that info is classified at the moment  :giggle:  - let's just say it is not an SUV but an estate car.

I will PM you though.

Hmm, intriguing, do you fear having mirth or envy heaped upon you by the yetonions? :wonder:  ;)

There is no shame in joining TP in a jacked up Octy III estate.

Not an Octy.

But I must say I was very tempted on the new Octavia VRS estate, and would have had one, had it not been for an even longer wait (apparently) than the Yeti.

Was told the Octy is about the same wait as the Yeti? 15-18 weeks

Nice car but SWMBO wouldn't let me have one, something to do with the average age of their drivers

You already are! Go on you know you still want it.

I'm just into my 12th week of waiting for our Octy III 4x4 and I've still not got even a provisional build week out of the dealer :giggle:

They originally quoted 12-15 weeks tops when we placed the order back in early October but current estimates suggest at least 20 weeks if not more to collection; March sometime :wonder:  :S

Don't remind me Fred. Trouble is I have already taken delivery of another new car, so I guess the Yeti will have to be my next one.

Nice choice of your colour BTW (Jungle Green) as that's what I originally ordered.

All this secrecy regard Truthseekers new wheels is making me wonder if they have restarted Robin or Kitten production

Maybe more realistically?

It still amazes me how Skoda manages to sell cars with such long and sometimes indeterminate waiting times. I'm with Truthsayer inasmuch as my 'waiting tolerance' is somewhat shorter than the Skoda timeline.

As to Truthseeker's choice it will probably make us envious.

But other manufacturers also have long lead times.

The days of buying an "off the peg" car went away years ago, mainly because we, the buying public, demand so many variables to be available.

My local Peugeot dealer says 4 months for certain 2008's, and Nissan have long delays on certain of the Quashcow.

And how about 24 months for a Morgan!!!!

(and they demand a BIG deposit!!!)

Truthseeker's choice it will probably make us envious.

I very much doubt it (envious that is).

I never have had much patience. Graham is correct though, insomuch that all most nothing is available off the peg now. However, where some manufacturers score (Japanese/Korean), is that they tend to fully spec up their cars, so there are no (or few) options, and those that are available are dealer fit, and this (mostly) keeps delivery times down.

Another problem with most factory options is that they have no (or very little) effect on resale values when trading in. On my cancelled Yeti order I optioned over £2.5k that would have gained me nothing come trade in time. It is very clever marketing by manufacturers (especially VAG group) to maximise their margins - and quite rightly so.

Other cars I looked at when deciding to cancel the FL were models from Subaru, Mitsibushi, Mazda, Kia etc, and all had the model I preferred available within a month, as they were either en route or already here. Interestingly, none had any available factory options (so no temptations to overspend), only minimal dealer fit ones (Sat Nav, different alloys etc).

My new car fitted the above criteria, and whist being of Japanese origin, it is UK built (there's a clue), and delivered within a month from order (I collect it on 2nd Jan).

I would have preferred the Yeti, as my last one was in my top 3 cars I have ever owned, but life is too short to be waiting (up to) 5/6 months for a car.

Makes you wonder how many potential owners do not buy Skoda (and other VAG cars) because of the long delivery times, and go elsewhere because of that. The Skoda dealer I ordered from told me that he had another customer (Octy VRS) cancel the same week as me due to long delivery, and I bet there are others around the country.

I suppose if Skoda etc can sell all the cars they make, then they are not too concerned, so I don't really know what the solution is, apart from maybe more production facilities. Trouble with that is, if the economy slows again (more than likely)..............well you all know the answer to that.
